Team Classic, where is it?

I’m seriously as ticked off at 343i to lying to my face as much as I was when Bungie promised that players who loved to rock Elites all the time would have a place in Matchmaking.

343i said, and I’m not paraphrasing “There will be a Classic playlist when the game ships.”

WHERE IS IT.

It sure as hell wasn’t Slayer Pro, you can’t have a ‘Classic’ playlist, and include the DMR, Sprint, Instant Respawns, no radar, and ordinance drops. It doesn’t work that way.

Team Classic needs:

  • Initial Ordinance ONLY, but with respawning time limits.

  • 25M Motion Tracker

  • AR/Magnum Loadout

  • 4v4 BR’s/BTB Variant with BR/Magnum Loadout

  • One Frag to spawn

  • Resupply On

  • Sprint Off

  • Instant Respawns Off

  • Forged map variants that add non-power weapons to the map such as Carbines, Light Rifles, Plasma Pistols, Boltshots, ARs, SRs, and SPRs, as well as making “Static” team spawns to prevent migrating teams across symmetrical maps. As well, please replace Team Spawn Points on Haven for added symmetry. One team on the Left ramp, one team on the Right.

  • “New” Power Weapons from Halo Reach/4 CAN be included. But use the Incineration Cannon and Binary Rifle sparingly.

  • Variants of 4v4 and 8v8 Slayer, CTF, Oddball, and KotH.

  • Damage Increase for ‘classic’ 4 shot kill BR, ONLY if extensively tested so guarantee that Snipers still don’t one-shot body shot etc.

  • Maplist of Haven, Solace, Abandoned, Adrift, Impact, and in the future Forge Remakes/Map Pack 4v4 sized maps for Standard.

  • Maplist of Ragnarok, Meltdown, Longbow, Shatter, Ravine, and in the future Forge Remakes/Map Pack 8v8 sized maps for BTB.

  • Just so we are clear. I am open to the inclusion of some new Halo 4 features as well, so long as they are implemented in an intelligent manner. FOR INSTANCE:
  • Custom Loadouts that offer a choice of BR/Carbine/LR Primary, AR/SR/SPR Secondary are acceptable in a Classic environment.

  • Ordinance Drops that call in Magnums, Plasma Pistols, or Boltshots are acceptable, Ordinance that call in Power Weapons and Powerups are NOT.

  • Killcams I am fine with.

  • Sprint/Instant Spawns can stay in if they must, but ONLY if Shield Regeneration Wait Time is quickened up to 3 seconds to compensate for the faster gameplay.

  • Random Ordinance could be used for something more clever. For instance, if there was ONE Random Ordinance spawn on the map, and it randomly spawned a Speed Boost, Overshield, or Damage Boost every 2 minutes, that would be pretty cool. Kind of reminicent of the random Ovies/Camos in Halo CE.

  • Thrust as an AA is an acceptable option in the game’s loadouts. If you need to have an AA there, use this. It would be cool.

I need a classic playlist. However, looking at what happened with Reach, only the tryhards would play it. And then, because there is no ranking system to prevent a person who only searches solo to get matched with a full team. I’d lose most games. I lose like half my games with a 2.6ish k/d anyway.

i agree, but just throw some damage modifiers in there. certain weapons damage should decrease imo. i just bought halo 4 yesterday and i’m already getting tired of the dmr mumbo jumbo --Yoink–
everyone uses, impossible to clutch in this game…

Classic playlists already exist.

> I need a classic playlist. However, looking at what happened with Reach, only the tryhards would play it. I feel you on that bro.

Though they added “Big Party Search” to Reach, so I could see them doing it eventually for Halo 4. As well, the new rank system in January might help bring attention to a Classic mode.

The main reason IMO that Classic in Halo Reach failed was because they released it 1 year too late. All the major Halo CE-3 fans had already given up and quit Reach by the time it came out. There was no “going back.” 343i should have done it right and shipped this playlist with the game, so that the nearly 200,000 players that have already stopped playing this game (or at least the percentage of those players that loved Halo 2 and 3), might not have left to begin with. Because now they aren’t likely to come back.

> Classic playlists already exist.

No it doesn’t. Are you high?

If I want to play Classic my ONLY options are to play Halo 3, or Classic in Reach. But I don’t want to play a 5 year, and 2 year old game. I want to play something NEW, but that’s still reminicent of the games I used to love.

oh i just remembered, everyone asked for a classic playlist in reach and it only had like 500 players at launch. wouldn’t be surprised if Halo 4’s classic playlists had the lowest

So what would that be? You didn’t ask for anything new. The classic playlist you asked for sounds an awful lot like Halo 2 or 3, your better off playing those.

They’re redoing TS pro, lets see how they change it up this time.

New Maps, new power weapons, new grenade, new physics, new graphics, new weapon tweaks (Magnum is nothing like previous games, neither is AR, yet they are included).

Having similar settings doesn’t make it the same game. It just makes the rules of the games as they change and evolve consistent.

What Halo Reach and Halo 4 did to the Halo series is similar to what would happen if all of a sudden in Football players were allowed to randomly choose to use Jetpacks, and random powerups would appear in front of them like “Multiball” and “Tackle Invulnerability”.

Sounds pretty stupid when you put it that way doesn’t it? So when was it ever a good idea for Halo?

Where?

I was going to make a joke and say its Halo 1,2, and 3.

Ah I see. You need a 60 dollar map pack and visual filter.

Wow. That is an excellent analogy, and I will be using it in the future.

Amen.

I was thinking Br/Ar loadouts, with a 2 frag spawn.

I don’t think you understand. Every single Halo added something new to the table while keeping most things the same

Halo 2 - Dual wielding, hijacking, and something else I cannot remember
Halo 3 - Forge, custom games, and theater

That’s because Reach’s classic playlist was nothing like classic halo, also it came way to late in its life cycle. I’ve all but given up on a Halo 4 classic playlist honestly, at this point I really want a playlist where weapons actually spawn on the map and ordinance is not in the games

No it doesn’t.

Dual wielding was crap and didn’t work, Forge and theater aren’t game play elements, and yes Halo 3 expanded on customs but customs were in 2 as well. No the leap was Halo 1 to Halo 2. Halo 2 and 3 were largely the same.

As for the part I highlighted that’s what I’m talking about. You guys offered nothing new. Updated physics, better graphics and weapon balancing aren’t new, that should be commonplace. What would be new as far as gameplay elements in your Halo? All of you people who bash Reach and H4 fail to answer that question.
