Team Balancing

Has anyone heard anything about plans to change the way the MM system chooses team mates for you?
As it stands, it’s either completely random, or intentionally putting all the best players on one team.

Example 1: A game of Invasion
The red team consisted of a three person party, a two person party, and one random.
Blue team (my team) consisted entirely of randoms.
Red team only had two players with K/Ds under 1.2.
Blue team only had one player with K/D above 0.8 (me).

Example 2: A game of Team Slayer
In this game, the K/Ds are a little more balanced, but just look at the scoreboard.

Out of the four games I played last night, the other two aren’t much better.
(The snipers game was my wife playing, and the custom firefight was just testing out a new controller, so I’m not counting either of those)

This is beginning to be the case almost every time I play. I destroy, destroy, destroy, and then I lose because the rest of my team has been running into bad locations, ARs ablazing over and over and over.

I know I should play with a team, but I can’t support a team very well - my opportunities to play are inconsistant, and I have a baby to take care of. The few friends I do play with suck just as hard as the randoms. Using my headset to try to organize my team doesn’t make a difference - they just mute me or start blasting some generic pop song into their mikes.

Has any attention been given to this issue? It’s infinitely frustrating being the only person on my team with a positive spread. Even more so when I have the best spread in the game by far and still lose by eight points.

This has been the issue for me aswell. The problem isn’t really with the Truskill ranknig system (not the Rank next to your Gamertag) that matches people up. It’s the population count. Aside from a few -Yoinks!- here and there. With less people playing, the Truskill has to find the closest to your skill range, not nessecerally your skill.

Ex: Let say the Truskill is 1 - 100 scale, like the BPR on Halo Waypoint. But if there are only say 80 people playing in that particular playlist, than the rage in very limited compared to 1,000 playing. I’m a 72 and the game (4 vs 4) is trying to find other 72’s but can’t because of its low pop… Instead it finds an 76, 75, 68, 63 against a 84, 72(me), 67, 54. The closest it could find. Trying to compensate for such a big gap, IMO, of all the people it finds it puts the two best and the two worst out of the 8 on a team, and the other team are the average players.

Off topic: Send me a friend request. I’m a decent/good player, works well with team but can also hold my own. Can’t stand campers, griefers, spawn killers, betrayers, weapon hoarders, and weapon/vehicle stealers i.e. Invasion.

You’re preaching to the converted.

Hopefully the Title Update will bring more people back to Reach and the Truskill will balance itself out.

Right now it is a nightmare to find a good game some nights.

For starters avoid BTB and Invasion, both are infested with people that are only interested in griefing and killspawning randoms. Very rarely will matches be competitve, with one team often getting crushed.

It wouldn’t be such an issue if power weapons and vehicles weren’t so over-powered but Reach BTB’s probably has the worst balance of any BTB in any Halo game.

I would suggest you fill out your friends list and then try BTB or Invasion.

I’m Australian but I won’t deny there are a lot of Australians in BTB that manipulate connections, even when I’m playing them it lags terribly so I can only imagine how bad it would be for people from other countries.

The closest thing to balanced Reach is Arena and honestly I found the ranking system much worse than Halo 3, rarely would matches be competitive and I got a lot of abusive messages from teammates and opponents who took the game too seriously.
