Team Arena vs Slayer

Can someone explain to me why these game types play so differently?

I usually play Solo/Duo Queue, SWAT, and Slayer. I occasionally dabble into Arena and want to know if its just me or if it seems different to anyone else. I understand that there is an objective to worry about, but the same thing exists in Breakout or Solo/Duo Queue. It seems like it takes so much to kill all these SWEATY players. It reminds me of the slight difference with Breakout, where for example, three shots to the head is a perfect vs the normal 5. It feels different.

I play high diamond in slayer, and it seems like I just get REKKED by golds and platinum’s in Arena. I guess I’m just curious what the difference is, if there is any. I know there is an objective, but at it’s core you are still just killing the opposing team. I find it strange that it plays so different.

NOTE: I’m not complaining, I just want to play it better.

Better players in arena. More communication and strategy, even in slayer gametypes. Plays differently as well with the lack of spartan abilities, so nobody sprinting around spartan charging.

The biggest difference is the flow of the combat and freedom of movement. When it comes to ranks, add 1 tier to the rank of the players your facing basically or half a tier. Golds are like mid plats. Plats are like mid daimonds and daimonds are like onyx. So basically that would be their rank in a different playlist like slayer. At least imo, its much more difficult to place high in team arena than it is in slayer.

The flow of the match has a lot to do with how the radar setting is different. When you move and base movement speed, you do not show up on radar. So player’s lacking this knowledge completely get flanked all the time in the match and wonder why the enemies aren’t showing up on radar until it’s too late. Only firing weapons, sprinting, thrusting , etc will make you ping on radar. Picking up the tactical magnum is also a very good advantage since you won’t show up on radar firing it.

So mix all that up together, plus the fact that you’re more likely to face full teams of 4 as a lone wolf. Solo Q/ Duos has the same settings as team arena, but only 2s can enter max.

So although it still takes skill to do well In slayer, it’s just generally easier because you have the melee spartan abilities, radar being more generous, power weapons having double the ammo as well I believe and it’s just all about kills. Very straight forward. You can still lose in oddball, ctf and strong holds having more kills if the other team plays the objective better. Some people can run the flag unbelievably fast man. I choke so much if it’s up to me lol.

I love team arena. I wish there was a slayer only hcs playlist. I love being able to move around the map more freely and not dealing with the annoying spartan charge.

Team Arena is basically the HCS playlist so it’s going to have the most competitive people in it.
