Team Arena Objective Tips for Noobs

I’ll start by saying that I’m not all that great a player, but I really enjoy playing team arena, especially CTF, Assault, and Strongholds. Something I frequently see is other spartans ignoring the objective and concentrating on killing enemies. While that can be helpful, often times their efforts can be better served focusing on other things, like defending a flag, protecting a flag runner, standing inside a stronghold while fighting for it, grabbing the ball and making a dash for the enemy base, etc.

Obviously, using a head set and communicating with team mates helps, but the AI call-outs serve pretty well to inform when something is happening. For those who do not use a headset, there are things that you can do to help secure a win. For example, when you hear the AI say “they have our flag”, head over to the enemy base so you can prevent them from scoring, and hopefully return your flag to your base.

During a game of Strongholds on Riptide a few days ago, me and two team mates were trying to capture a stronghold, and I got caught in the blast from a team mate’s rocket launcher. As I watched while waiting to respawn, the other two stayed outside the stronghold despite that the enemy player had been chased out, eventually leaving after killing the enemy with a rocket without even trying to take the stronghold. They were apparently playing slayer.

I’m hoping that the community here can reply with helpful suggestions for noobs in an effort to help them improve their performance in objective games.

Hey man,

Me and a friend have recently started a youtube channel and we occasionally do tips where we try to give real tips, not the usual aim for the head kinda stuff.

Here’s my tip PTFO!!! Stop playing ctf, assault, and strongholds like slayer

All I have to say is just to PLAY THE OBJECTIVE. That’s the only way to win. Oh, and I guess another would be to sacrifice your K/D for the greater good of the team. A lot of people don’t like to pick up the ball in Assault, because there is a good chance that they will die.

If I had a nickle for every time I saw this happen, I could buy my wife an XB1. I prefer to grab the flag, run the ball or look for enemy strongholds, but nine out of ten times, I end up lone wolfing it, & die alone. Alone. When my teamamtes go for the objective, I try to cover them, or force the other team to waste time dealing with me. As for assault, you know you can melee the frak out of people with the ball, it’s a one hit K.O.

How about when you pick up the ball, go to your team. Stop taking it straight to the enemy. And if it’s laying on our base with a half cap, grab the stupid ball.

Or when they have your flag and you don’t know where, instantly push their base and pull theirs. That’s where they’re heading.

Standing somewhere camping kills does no good. Take map control on Stronghold.

I may not always grab the ball or pull a flag, but I’m always doing the objective. Whether I stop them or protect my teammate, I’m always playing it.

Common sense. If a player wants to play slayer go to the SLAYER ARENA. Pro tip: Don’t be a -Yoink-.

I disagree with the whole players defending the flag. Its a 4v4 and if you have one guy playing defense then your whole team is playing defense.
Tunnel vision on flags and ball (s) or strongholds can also get you killed without capturing anything.
