Team Arena Now The HCS Playlist

It should be renamed as of now and an alternate playlist should be made to replace what was taken out.

I say this because I know the non-competitive community is up in arms about content and maps being removed.

I for one am glad we are getting a playlist which is along the same lines of the MLG playlist in previous games.

To all the non-competitive players, please remain calm, I hope 343 sorts the stuff out soon, but I am glad we are moving into a new era of H5.

Give us Assault, Overgrowth, Riptide, Torque and now Tyrant back in Arena!

My point was I hope they create a new playlist to give you guys the full range of maps and rename the current team arena to ESL or HCS.

Quinn said on twitter they plan to get Assault back in 3-4 weeks. (I assume they are trying to fix the spawns.)

Source.

We should have separate playlists with different settings for casuals and competitive players.

Why not just leave it in and i don’t know, update it. What’s bad about leaving it in. Slayer, CTF and strongholds can all be played in another playlist, assault can’t leaving the game with less variety.

Because Team Arena is the competitive playlist that matches the pro league gametypes/maps. They aren’t going to leave it in while it’s being fixed and isn’t part of pro league.

How about we don’t split the community even more than it already has been, hmm?

This is why we need a set of social playlists, he’ll even just something as simple as unranked slayer and objective playlists would be perfect

Loving the changes its good spices things up and gives the maps a new life I was playing assault today in team Arena

Halo 3 had a ranked/competitive and unranked/social split, and it thrived for years, and it also had a lot more playlist options too. So why couldn’t Halo 5?

Think of all the non-competitive players that have quit Halo 5 because they don’t have anything other than Warzone (and now Infection) to play. BTB, Team Slayer, Team Arena, etc. are ALL extremely competitive, leaving no room for anybody to just sit back and have fun. Now, if they had social playlists and settings, maybe those people would have stayed. I know that I don’t want to play Halo 5 anymore, since I’m not enjoying the forced ultra-competitive style.

Idc care if they add a social objective/slayer list, they just cant have 2 separate ranked lists for essentially the same thing.

I’m glad they did this. They can keep riptide and overgarbage. Tyrant wan’t terrible, but it wasn’t great. Assault was fun but needed to be fixed, it was broken, and hopefully will come back even better.

Halo 3 population doesn not equal halo 5 population. There aren’t enough people playing to support more playlists of the same game types.

Or… They could not design any playlist to exclusively use maps used in tournament play. If pros don’t want to play non-tournament maps they can play each other in customs. They do anyway. The entire concept of pushing everyone into “pro” playlists, or modeling playlists after tournaments, is bad.

Right so how are any amateur players supposed to develop then?

Thats hardly splitting the community. This game sadly needs an actual social and ranked playlists.

I’m liking the changes to Team Arena to a more HCS-style. They can always make a different playlist and call it Team Objective. If they plan to do that, they might as well return Team Doubles to the rotation. I still don’t understand why this hasn’t been a permanent playlist at this point. That’s a story for another thread though.

So are you saying that Halo is just a game to buy if you want to work at getting PRO? What happened to playing a game for fun? People develop skills by playing a game…when you are shoved into something where everyone is super competitive and in teams and you get slaughtered it doesnt make you want to keep playing…I definately dont go…hmm if I stick this out I will surely develop some skills.

The majority of players will never be “pro”, or play this game professionally. Playlists such as team arena are still going to be competitive, at all levels of play. After all, players are competing directly against other players in them. Throwing the word social out front, moving things around and adding two extra players in the mix isn’t going to change this at all. “Social Slayer” is still going to be competitive.

Non-competitive modes of play include stuff like firefight, co-op, etc (short list, I know). In these modes players are working together, on the same team, agaisnt some type of challenge. Nobody is competing against another player.

Professional players and esports are the exception, not the rule. No playlist offered to the playerbase as a whole should be tailored specifically to tournament play. Team arena should incorporate all available options, in terms of maps and gametypes for those maps. If a tournamant, such as HCS, doesn’t feel a part of this playlist is ideal for their event they can omit it at that event. If pro players only want to practice what they will see in the event they can get together and play custom games/scrim/whatever (again, they do this anyway). Taking Overgrowth, the Assault game mode or Torque Strongholds out of the playlist because tournamant play isn’t using them doesn’t make sense.

Since its come to this, its time for a major revamp of all the playlists to the following:

  • MLG/ESL/HCS - The current team arena. - Team Arena - Team objective gametypes. (no slayer) (ranked) - Slayer - Team Slayer only. (ranked) - FFA (ranked) - SWAT (ranked) - Breakout (ranked) - BTB (unranked social) - Infection (unranked social) - Grifball - Rotating social playlists ( fiesta, super fiesta, snipers, social ctf, social assault ) (unranked)
I dont play FFA so i dunno if its currently a ranked playlist. Also, we are missing doubles so it would be nice if its atleast introduced into the rotating playlist if not its own.

Finally, the rotating playlist could lat 3-4 days instead of a week so that we get faster rotations.
