Tartarus as a warzone boss

I fully expect everyone to hate this idea but we will see.

I am aware there are no brutes and I’m sure it would be difficult to build the models from scratch, etc etc. but personally I think it would be awesome if Tatarus made an appearance as a boss. Similar to how the fight was in Halo 2.

Aside from this discussion are there any other bosses people would like to see in halo 5? (Regardless of its possibility or not, you never know I suppose)

A scaled-down Scarab would be an interesting boss.

Killing it would be similar to destroying a core (once on-board), but it would take significantly more time.

Tatarus… so much YES!

I think it would be great… but it won’t ever happen.

I do see where you’re coming from, and I like that idea if it didn’t affect the story so much. The original Borderlands did it in the Arenas for Mad Moxxi where there were bosses you previously beat to fight against in like a Firefight style. If that idea were to actually be considered, the best thing to do would be to have the big Legendary Boss on the final wave, like they do with Gears of War 3s Horde Mode 2.0. It would be better to have that in the Firefight playlist than original Warzone. For example, Wave 5: The Flood. Wave 10: Tartarus and 10 Halo 2 Brute Captains and 15 Halo 2 Brutes who go Berserk easily. Bonus wave: Grunts.

True, I don’t think they should let story restrict them
however. I love the new warzone map due to introducing a warthog and mantis as a boss (despite both being easily killed in seconds.

I would even like jul mdama, maybe a phantom boss, and of course a scarab but I know that one would never happen.

Now this I would love to see, imagine this crawling it’s way across a map?! Would completely change up the game.

Not sure what would be a reward, but would be a good thing to talk about!

EDIT: Maybe you could either destroy it / capture it and treat it as another base / take control and go HAM on the enemy.

I completely agree with you on this! Warzone brought us back old weapons with the delay firefight has add I don’t see why it can’t bring us back old enemies.

We dint really wait this long to face the same campaign enemies and different variations of the warden did we?

Tartarus would be awesome

Yeah why not? That would be so interesting to see and it would aport some variety to the game

I think it would be an interesting dynamic especially with his invincibility shield if it was implemented.

I don’t hate the idea, it just seems like a fruitless effort to run training simulations against an enemy that is already confirmed to be dead.

He’s dead so I can’t see any reason for adding him to a training simulation. But, having said that, it’s reasonable to expect there will be other brutes with similar weapons and insanely strong shielding.

I wouldn’t say fruitless. You’re almost implying that it is a basic dull thing to add a character that’s been killed off in the series, a good character at that, one that made the last halo 2 mission memorable.

Despite brutes not being in the game at all it will add variety to the game. Especially in warzone where personally I don’t think it would matter if it crossed timelines.

with how you had to fight him in halo 2 it would make the game pretty instense especially if he is near dead and goes into invincibility mode.

Lastly it would be good for nostalgic reasons to bring in old fans (Which quite frankly due to lack of splitscreen, UI, story, and lack of offline play in general, it’s easy to see why Halo 5 isn’t considered as great as everyone was hoping)

In this case I fail to see why flavor should beat gameplay. They said they were working on including new bosses. I hope that means more than just new knight and warden variations. Heck try having the arbiter as a boss with prophets bane and the top tier storm rifle and an honor guard of several elites.

Completely agree

I think jul’ mdama would be a better choice because we never got to fight him in the campaign like we should have. And i think it would be easier for 343 to add him then to build a new character for the ground up.

NOT ANOTHER WORD!..-Tartarus to the Oracle.

It could work and tie in with the story since warzone and arena are simulations on the infinity to train the spartans by putting them against each other and enemies from the past so it wouldn’t really break lore wise

Tartarus has something of a reputation as a crappy boss from H2. (even though he was an interesting character) So I’d not use Tartarus specifically. I would instead opt for the Chieftain from Escalation, Lydus. He’s not technically an enemy of the UNSC, but I could see training against a target like him as plausible, since the Brutes could turn against humanity basically at any time.
