Targeting Reticle

How exactly does the reticle for your gun work? I know the gun would be linked to the helmet, but what if the Spartan isn’t pointing the barrel in the same direction as the reticle suggests? I know this might be too specific for a video game, but since 343 made multiplayer canon, some of the stuff seems inconsistent.

Then the reticle would move reflect which direction the gun is pointing in.

At some point I assume the reticle would just move back to center. Like say you pointing your gun at the ground, the reticle moves down for a bit but it self corrects and moves back to center because you aren’t pointing it at something you need to shoot (the ground).

That sounds right enough to me. The next question is over the hit indicators. How would those work?

Either it’s just gameplay, or some sort of VISR target identification to tell of the shot hit.

The VISR could be looking for visual indicators suggesting a projectile has struck a target. (IE Sparks, Shield flare, blood, deformation, etc.)

I originally thought that the bullets themselves might have contained some kind of sensor, but that makes sense too.

Remember also that MJOLNIR houses several AIs

yeah this is important, the AI allows the armor to make far more accurate assumptions than simpler processes could.

as stated above the MJOLNIR armours have hightech sensors and AI systems that handle a lot of information processing.
