Lately I’m seeing a lot of people tap their assault rifle as if it were semi auto instead of automatic. Anyone know what this is called? And why do people do it?

To be more precise. Autos do a bit more damage on head shots than body shots. (Not much more if I remember correctly) And it feels surprisingly awesome.

Only unshielded but yes
@OP, like others have said, controlling the bloom and making sure all the bullets make contact since it takes so many to kill someone even on unshielded foe’s.
I say buff the AR’s damage abit so it takes less bullets to kill someone if you are micro-bursting your weapon. You deserve to get rewarded for it compared to someone spraying it full auto.

I think that last part was Halo 3.
Dunno. There’s pretty much no situation where tap-firing is necessary.

But you’re already being rewarded with less bloom and a slightly faster TTK.

Still feel like it takes too long to down an un-shielded foe. But it could me being sloppy and missing them sweet headshots.
Still gotta give 343i a major thank you for finally making my favorite weapon viable in a precision weapon focused game

Just use armor lock instead.
