In halo reach we could judge whether we wanted to risk the assassination animation or just melee the enemy.
If we tap melee once it would just back smack the enemy, but if we held the melee button it would do the animation.
Do we have the same options in halo 5, or is it just a toggle in the settings.
I would love the option to choose during the match, plus I won’t have to keep turning the animation off during the competitive games and on for casual or custom games.
The only problem I see is if you have air assassination animations it could possibly start a animation when you are trying to ground pound. But I think most any time an enemy has his back in front of you you would want to melee him, and then ground pound from above if needed.
What do you all think, should 343 add the option again?
With the ground pound the same as needing to hold for assassinations, it screws with my controls a lot whenever I go to ninja someone and then sadly I end up dying because of the idle floating sequence that instead should have had me snapping the neck of my opponent.

Explain and elaborate please, your simple minded post does nothing here but add to your post numbers. Be constructive, not bland.

Didn’t think of this however I still like the idea. I’v died so a couple times now mid animation and it didn’t give me the kill. Along with also being mid animation and needing to move on to the next kill. I guess I should turn them off? Is that an option?

You have a toggle assassinations in the options already is what he’s saying.

no I’m pretty sure he’s saying tapping melee no assassination, holding melee assassination.

I think it’s pretty clear that when someone gives a “yes you can do that” or a “no, you can’t do that” answer then it’s obvious I was answering the only question he had. The rest of his post was a statement. For your sake though I’ll be more precise.
SedentaryTube0, in Halo 5 you are able to to quickly tap the melee button for a back smack or hold it to assassinate.

Whatever your melee is. Just walk up to someone’s back and press and hold that button. This thread was from November. There wasn’t any need to resurrect it.
The animation seems iffy to me. Sometimes I will just tap melee to get a quick kill and the animation will go through. Other times I will hold melee to do an assassination and it will just punch the enemy in the back
