Tank beats everything!

Apart from somebody slowly making their way across the map with active camo

Or somebody repeatedly firing overcharged plasma pistols and being utterly ignored by teammates?

It’s anyone else really annoyed by this? Any powerful ground vehicle of req level 5+ can be easily dealt with by these simple and extremely easy counters that are as low as level 2!
Simple solution is to make it necessary to melee a vehicle before you can plant a grenade. 1 melee for basic armour variants 2 for upgraded variants and 3 for advanced.
Also I think vehicles should have a very small cooldown before then can be EMP’d again so that EMP spam isn’t a hard counter to wasps and phaetons

I feel as if tanks are too OP as it is

There must be checks and balances to each weapon and vehicle to keep things level in the sandbox. If a couple of guys talking couldn’t take out a tank or wraith or whatever it would be OP.

Banshee that Scorpian into submission.

Just need to battle vehicles with vehicles. Can’t take one out just as a spartan that just spawned.

That’s true BUT in Halo 5 it doesn’t take a couple of guys it just takes one. And for a far lower cost than the cost of the scorpion. And in both these cases the scorpion is almost powerless to defend itself unless the potential hijacker makes a mistake.

In what way? It’s a tank! It should be a huge threat not a small distraction that requires one thing to neutralize.

My biggest tank complaint, is its (lack of) speed. You can’t even run a Spartan over, you’re moving so slowly. You know, the modern tank can hit speeds of up to 55 mph. I gotta wonder what went wrong with the concept . . .

If you use it right, gungeese are a good counter towards scorpions.

I do agree tanks are underpowered in halo 5 but the ways of eliminating them you mentioned seem reasonable to me (active camo and plasma pistol methods). I think the problem is map design. The space is too enclosed to be using tanks. The maps need to be bigger of have a much more open environment so they’re more tank friendly. That and it’s too slow. Especially compared to older halos. Or real tanks.

I’ve gotten plenty of Splatters with a Scorpion Tank. But I have also taken out many of them with just plain old load out weapons too. They do have good fire power but they are very weak when it comes to armor and speed. I don’t like taking all day to get somewhere in a tank like you say.

Agreed about the maps. Especially ARC where the team that doesn’t control the garage can be flanked ridiculously easily. In regards to plasma pistols and camo I’m not saying they shouldn’t be efficient counters just that they shouldn’t be an I win button.
At present once you get EMPd only a teammate can prevent it happening again which is fine if you have alert competent teammates but otherwise useless and with camo by the time you become aware of them you have seconds to kill them before the grenade destroys your tank. If you had to melee the hatch open first the tank could be saved by your team or even the driver if a wall was near enough.

You aren’t mentioning some things.

1) You actually have to be within range to make it to the tank to do any damage. Firing a plasma across the map is only going to temporarily disable it and nothing else.

2) The tank driver can equip the wheelman mod so the EMP effect is greatly reduced thus making it harder for a person to make it within range to do damage.

3) The driver can get out of the tank or any vehicle when it’s EMP’ed to negate the effect and then quickly jump back in or kill the guy trying to plasma pistol you.

4) Having camo is an advantage, but it doesn’t make them completely invisible. If you have good awareness, you’ll be able to spot them before they can make it on your tank.

5) You can kill the person boarding you with splash damage. If you’re close to an object, you can use that to shoot at and kill the person before they can plant a grenade since planting nades isn’t an instant thing. I also think the higher REQ tanks like the ONI for example can take two grenades before it blows up as long as it’s not already moderately damaged.

  1. In the case of single plasma pistol shot yes. However I’m referring to the times when somebody will EMP you over and over without giving it time to wear off.
  2. As above. Wheelman makes no difference if you can’t kill them before they hit you again. Also not everyone has wheelman and even those that do can’t use it in btb.
  3. This could be solution but while exiting a vehicle you are a sitting duck the noob combo is called that for a reason and if they kill you? They get your tank. Never worth the risk imo
  4. It’s impossible to watch every possible approach at once and any idiot can simply stand still when they see your turret move towards them. Also when in a tank lasers and other vehicles offer an almost constant distraction.
  5. I did mention this. It requires the wall to be close enough your turret to be facing the right way as they board you and even then a lot of the time you’ll just drop their shields. A last resort at best a waste of time more often than not.
Requiring melee attacks as it was in Halo 2 would give you enough time to do this provided you were aware of your surroundings but as it is it rarely makes any difference.

Also in the case of wheelman you are correct in that a single grenade will not kill an oni or Hannibal but at that point the difference is so small your scorpion will die when someone breaths on it to hard. I’ve had someone camping outside the home base hijack my fresh Hannibal grenade it then finish it with simple ar fire before I could charge a shot at him.

I feel all vehicles are too weak. They are not OP whatsoever and almost useless in H5.

WHAT!!! Have you not seen anyone with a banshee ultra getting 50 kills + (in WZ) on youtube ? If you’re playing WZFF and don’t use vehicles you cant win most final rounds.
To say vehicles are useless is one of (if not the) most amazing posts I’ve seen on here.

Agreed that the Banshee is powerful enough as it is but he’s right about all the others Phaetons especially are unnecessarily weak

besides overpowered modded weapons

Yes, but they also have to get within range of you to do any damage. Using wheelman can help counter that especially with a flying vehicle and I know not everyone has it, but it’s just one counter that can help if you do, or you can do my number 3 and exit the vehicle to try and kill them if they’re close to you. The noob combo can be dodged by well timed thrust and it is worth the risk because they would likely plant a grenade and you would die anyway if they were in boarding distance. If they get your tank, get your own plasma pistol and do it to them, heh.

Interesting that you mentioned BTB because that’s not the same as Warzone. BTB needs balance and not having any fast spawning counters means it’s not going to be balanced in a social matching playlist. Imagine playing Dispelled with no plasma pistol and the enemy team has a tank, both Wasps and your vehicles are gone. Until the power weapons or new vehicles come up which can range from 2-5 minutes, you basically have no decent counters for those vehicles except for your basic weapons and grenades and it’s not even a guarantee that you’ll get those power weapons. In social matching, it’s less than likely you’re going to have a random team that works together so that game will be even worse than it already is unless they work together and having a plasma pistol will help with that although it’s not a guarantee that will change anything and that’s from personal experience. BTB needs at least one fast spawning counter like a plasma pistol or a sentinel beam.

I have been splattered many a time while trying to board a tank and not even the hannibal either. it’s so stupid

It’s a tank. covered in armour, shooting massive rounds at you. it’s meant to beat EVERYTHING, (except when i drive it, i somehow weaken the integrity of the vehicle and it is just plain garbage, joys of solo cue and lack of skill)
