One of the fun parts about Halo was that it was a talkative community and you could go into a game and socialize with people.
Nope not anymore.
On EVERY SINGLE GAME gamechat is empty, completely empty. Almost all xbox live games are like this now, it’s sad as using a mic used to be like a rule but now it’s just deaaaaad.
Rant rant, these forums have died since the games release anyway, this post will probably just get completely missed with no replies.
Miss old waypoint.
Miss old Xbox live.
It’s because this game takes no coordination or skill to win, unless you are playing an organized team. In turn, that team is usually made up of friends so… if you want to talk I would get a team together. Pretty unfortunate but… welcome to Halo 4.

No skill to win at all? dude what game are you playing, i’m fairly certain skill is heavily involved, if a team of my mother was playing she’d definitely loose due to lack of skill.
Stop being so damn butthurt that the game is harder to play and so your K/D is worse.
This game is no different to Halo 3 except it has vast improvements and yet it has a less active and less talkative community than that of a 5 year old game.
Those are old times friend…Now people like to play quiet…Your best bet is to find a clan or a group of friends if you want communications hell that what everybody in every game does…they go to party chat…few games like call of duty search and destroy gametype require you to be in gamechat to play thats why they are talkactive
Normally I hate when people say nostalgia, but this is purely nostalgia.
All I remember from back then is people calling each other Naggers or Little Switches, or the occasional Laggot. I left the game muted for a reason.

@Cosmo…
Actually forget it. I’m not gonna explain all this in detail for the tenth time today.

But thats the problem, how am i supposed to start a clan or join one when nobody talks in the game? The recruiting section in this forum has become even more innactive after the games release. You usually become friends over xbox live with someone when you talk to someone and have a good laugh in gamechat, yet that never happens anymore.

The sad and unfortunate truth.
I play a lot with my wife, and we stopped using game chat because parents suck at raising their children right. We get on there and start talking and she speaks up and says, “Two guys without shields on top of building B.” Suddenly there’s a bunch of guys saying crap like, “Are you hot? Do you have big breasts? Can I come over? Oh what I would do to you.”
As a husband, if anyone ever said that to my wife in person, I would be in a bareknuckle brawl without a second thought. No one talks to my wife like that. But on the internet, there’s nothing you can do about it.
So no, I don’t gamechat and that’s why. Because the internet is filled with pigs.
If my son’s around I’ll talk on the mic while giving him a running commentary of what’s going on when I was playing Firefight in Reach, He’s really young so the funniest things get asked by him while I’ve been told in the most extreme terms that I’m not allowed to be on the Blue Team and that I should be nice to the monsters.
Usually the other mics used to snap on and everyone would be laughing at my antics of trying to play the game while my boy was wrestling my head off my neck in order to get my controller.
In Spartan Ops I just don’t feel like talking anymore.
I’d talk if it didnt bring the whole topic of. “Dude! You are a girl!”… other then that I usually am talking to my friends when we play. I’ve noticed a lot of people I get grouped with have mics, thanks to the mic group up system that seems to be implemented. But unless I say, “Three near our flag, one with rockets…” No one says crap.
Honestly, the best conversation I had on this game so far. Wasn’t even a conversation. Guy kept calling me out. “Twisted! Love! I’m coming for you!” I noticed he kept trying to betray me. Guess since it was 2 vs 5 he deemed it worthy of fun. I miss the few times in Reach when The whole lobby would pregame talk, then stay in the lobby after the match to talk more.

You think wanting to talk to people is purely nostalgic? Wtf dude?
It’s called being social, i wish to converse with human beings, not relive the good ol days, i don’t think you understand the meaning of nostalgia mate.
Oh and my names Cosmic, not Cosmo

I would have to say not true to that i met a bunch of very talkactive people on halo forums recruiting…we have a blast all the time… people dont usually spend time on forums but are very active in game
People didn’t socialize very well from what I remember.
Unless you’re playing CTF then there’s no reason to have your mic on

this part.

I hear ya. Some people are way too ignorant.

Okay it’s the games lack of skill that’s stoping people from speaking in game chat.
Then explain to me why Team Fortress 2 the most unskillful game in the world has probably the only large scale talkative community left
> Team Fortress 2 the most unskillful game in the world
Wat?
I am just completely demoralized now by that statement.
I mean the skill floor is large but the skill ceiling is also pretty high.

what… halo 4 takes very little skill. my k/d is over 2x as high in h4 as h3. no skill is required to camo boltshot camp like 50% of people do in infinity slayer. you dont even have to aim and you can get dmr headshots.
anyway, i always have my mic in. i agree that too few people do
Every time I decide to use a mic no one else is using one/talking.
