I need advice on how to take my gameplay to the next level. I have a 1.3+ K/D and consistently stay positive, even if I’m the lowest scoring player. On HaloTracker I’m bouncing back and forth between 31 and 32. I’ll blame that on being matched up with some crappy players. Refer to aforementioned ability to stay positive. My +7 or so can’t balance out some other BKs -13.
Anyway, recently I’ve been consistently playing with K/Ds over 1.5. However, I still find myself getting into those situations of being outnumbered. It seems like my conservative style of play leaves me alive after the rest of my team has died. Also, I am frequently getting picked off by some ARtard as I’m fleeing for cover. It’s like if I just had one or two more steps to get around a corner…you know what I mean?
I typically play conservative, not rushing the enemy group and fighting the fights I feel I can win. Or I hold down a specific area of a map. Not camping one spot, but holding down an area for map control (think running around symmetrical building on Complex with scattershot).
Tell me what you think based on what I’ve told you or have a look at my service record. I feel like I’m on the cusp of being able to take my game to a new level, but I just can’t quite break through that ceiling.
What’s your all-purpose loadout?
My all purpose loadout varies between DMR and BR (more BR now) with frags, Boltshot, Promethean Vision, Dexterity, and whatever lets you pick up more grenades. I used to play with Decoy, but felt PV gave me a jump on players coming out from behind cover.
I’ve mastered DMR and have been using the BR a lot more these days. However I think I play better with the DMR on certain maps like Haven.
I’m not that great too, I have a K/D of 1.71 with a skill rank of 36. The only tips I can give you are these, as I follow them myself and go about +14 every game:
-
Whenever you have a bunch of friends online playing Halo 4, see if you can party up with them. It’ll lessen the chance of having randoms on your team.
-
Play aggressive. Try and keep the opposition pinned, but not spawn trapped. Use a scoped weapon such as the Carbine or BR to cover those medium range kills.
-
I see this happen very often, and you seemed to have described this. Getting killed by ARs. Avoid CQC if you can, and if you do end up being cornered by an AR user, you have to make sure you are ready to adjust your aim.
-
Use your grenades as often as you can. Preferably the frag grenades, they offer the most versatility.
-
Jump, and with the mobility of an injured snail, strafe as much as you can. It’ll throw off the enemy’s aim, and offer you that final killing shot.
-
Don’t sprint around corners, jump when you approach one. Especially when you think an enemy is hiding behind it.
-
Always be ready to adapt and change your kits whenever needed. Don’t stick with just one kit the whole game when you know it isn’t benefiting you and your team.
-
COMMUNICATE WITH THE TEAM.
And if you somehow manage to fail, just add me or something. We can play together.
Oh, and try and use these two classes. They work really well with me:
- Battle Rifle
Magnum
Frags
Thruster Pack
Dexterity
Shielding
2.Assault Rifle
Magnum
Frags
Promethean Vision
Dexterity
Shielding
And if all else fails with those two;
- DMR
Storm Rifle
Frags
Regen. Field
Stability
AA Effiency
( I honestly don’t think you can fail with the DMR class. )
