What if your MP character could forgo their heavy gloves? It’s not as mad as it sounds: Without bulky armour over your fingers, you might be able to reload faster, or even fire your weapon at a quicker rate. Plus, it’s a great indicator as to when a tussle’s breaking out 
One downside would be the inability to use Plasma 'nades, on account of the superheated coating. Fuel Rods and other volatile weapons are on this list as well. Still, if the BR is your singular baby, it’s all good.

You don’t seem to understand how Mjolnir armor works.
The suit enhances a spartans reflexes, strength, and speed, they feel more capable and comfortable with their suits on then with them off. If a spartan took their gloves off they’d be hindering their abilities massively. They’d probably really hurt their fists, maybe even break a few bones, if they tried to punch an enemies armour.

Maybe a suit that weighs less? It could travel faster and jump higher, but would be less resistant to damage.

That doesn’t mean we should make fiction look silly and stupid just because its not real. Something like sports which is pretty much primarily for entertainment is only as serious as people value it to be. Which means fiction can compete depending on how people value it since both fiction and sports are all about entertainment. I couldn’t care less about sports so for me and all the other people that couldn’t care less about sports Halo’s more important.
