Take Slayer out of Quickplay

Anyone seeking slayer from quickplay just plays slayer. Thats a fact.

I dont get your logic. How does Slayer in Quickplay helps the playlist to be populated? Im not chosing Quickplay because i want to play slayer. I chose Quickplay because its the only playlist where i have a chance to play objective gamemode.

Fr I don’t know anyone who is braindead enough to try to play quickplay hoping for a slayer match.

I don’t know anybody who doesn’t play ‘quick mode’ unless they want to get challenges.

However, @KCD0DGER has a point. ‘Objective modes’ in previous Halo’s always had the lowest population counts. It was an issue Bungie never really solved.

And I don’t see having slayer in the list saving it, considering most people I know just immediately leave the slayer matches they get into from that playlist.

I don’t think slayer is there to save objective game types.

Quick play gives a more casual experience to ranked having an AR start. That’s it’s main purpose.

The game is built around the core experience. Team slayer was a concession 343 made to appease the fans. With Slayer being the most popular playlist. They had no alternative.

Other playlists will appear as time goes by to sell seasons etc.

However the core game play evolves around the four or five core game modes and splitting those identifies weaknesses in certain types.

343 has a strong motto of inclusion and diversity. Which in the long run is better than giving the player choice, as we have seen in the past. Playlists with no population eventually get taken away altogether.

At least with combination there’s something for everybody. But with this weighting is key.

Regarding challenges. I don’t mind the wait for certain game types. But then I play not for the reward but for the win.

I can imagine for people with less patience and a different outlook it can be frustrating.

Its not just about patience, but respecting player time
I don’t have the time of day to sit for hours hoping I get the correct game type. I work full time, go to school part time, and am active with my family.
Dealing with redundant game modes in a playlist that already removes most of my autonomy is already an extra layer of RNG BLAM that feels redundant for redundancy sake.
As long as there are challenges the playlist will be fine, although it does exacerbate my frustrations and needs a change.

Not just no, you are correct.

However the ‘quick play’ playlists caters for everybody. Which is a good thing.

In my experience, I don’t particularly like stronghold. But people do. So I try my best and stay in the game. Even though it drags.

I don’t think there is an issue with the playlist. If challenges wasn’t specific to certain game types. Maybe your experience of ‘quick play’ would be different?

Or if you were working towards at least one challenge when playing a game you would feel more inclined to enjoy the game that you are playing.

I think the challenges need tweaking to make ‘quick play’ a better experience for all, not what game types are in the playlist.

GODS, THANK YOU. Finally someone gets it.

They absolutely should.

How i long for the days back when we were given a chance to vote for which game was coming up next during a search. Such as searching for a btb game and it would drop down 3 options like

Option 1: btb slayer

Option 2: btb slayer carbines

Option 3: CTF

Etc.

Players would vote on what they wanted and the 1 that won would be what you would play.

And it was random and even showed which map each option would randomly be on too. Made it sooooooo much easier to avoid repetitive matches. And if you didnt like the selections provided you could just back out and start a new search. The glory days.

(Though most of the time people always chose slayer anyways which was annoying af but hey nothing saying they couldn’t make a better version of the same thing to help prevent repetition)

The MCC match composer is probably the most perfect system we’ve seen yet, but everyone needs to understand there are tradeoffs to player choice.

Quickplay is not the root of any problem in Infinite. Tbh, it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. What this thread is actually complaining about is gametype specific challenges paired with a lack of gametype choice. And this can easily be resolved without needlessly dismantling Quickplay.

The solutions are simple:

  1. Remove gametype specific challenges. OR
  2. Add gametype specific playlists/match composer. OR
  3. Make challenges achievable in custom games.

And it isn’t like 343 doesn’t know any of this so why are we even discussing it? Consider the grievance aired with all possible solutions proposed. End of discussion?

I agree with this sentiment. Overall the challenge system needs to fundamentally change. My thought process is that 343 has displayed such incompetence that it would appear the easiest solution for them would be to cut something out rather than fix their shoddy system.

At the moment the game just seems like it doesn’t need quickplay for any reason. It’d be better off as action sack. The people that want slayer gravitate towards the slayer playlist and the vast majority in the quickplay playlist are just seeking out an objective.

Honestly yeah, it would make those challenges a bit more duable ngl

Honestly I agree, I did love that you could filter the BS that you didn’t like, I barely even paly slayer on MCC

I’ve come to learn that when it comes to infinite they rushed it and consider no community feedback. Let alone use practices people liked about previous titles. They have a small selection of hand picked people that give them feedback. Who may once in a blue moon look at the forums and give 343 a very vague idea of what the community is displeased with.
