OG halo fans don’t want halo to change. You want it to stay the exactly the same as you remember it from your childhood. Which will inevitably lead to it dying as new fans get bored and older fans inevitably lose interest, if it never changes its deaf is inevitable! At least 343 tried something Different with spartan abilities. At least it was different, at least they tried to shake things up. Halo reach had sprint at yet it’s considered to be great, a masterpiece. I guarantee you in a few years halo 5 will be praised just like reach. Just like how halo 4 is.

Quite a big difference between
Halo 4 is praised, and the Story of Halo 4 is praised.

I wasn’t born when CE came out and my first halo game i owned was halo 5. Sprint and advanced mobility has no place in halo and these new games have been terrible.
Just because I prefer the older Halo titles doesn’t mean I’m blinded by nostalgia. I’m so sick of this argument for literally new version of an IP.
You can think that new Halo games are good games, and honestly they aren’t bad per se, but they aren’t what a lot of longtime fans want for a Halo title. I think the big thing that you’re missing is that the demand isn’t for the exact same game as Halo 3, it’s for an iteration on those games without changing the core mechanics of those games.
There’s just a demand from people to see a Halo game with its core mechanics intact because there isn’t anything like that on the market right now. There are no modern or recent multiplayer games that scratch that itch for the simple game play that Halo CE-3 offered. You can shake things up in Halo without fundamentally changing the mechanics.
Look at Halo 2 Anniversary. It’s multiplayer is an excellent example of 343 innovating a classic experience without ruining the integrity of that experience. The main way to do that is to give the sandbox power instead of the players. This can be through pickups, weapons, or just the map itself. H2A innovated Halo 2’s maps by adding new mechanics to the maps like the giant bubble shield on Ascension, or the breakable glass in Lockout.
You can love games like Halo 2 or 3 and acknowledge the flaws of those games. The driver of the demand for a new classic experience is that Halo 2 and 3 are far from perfect, and some people would like to see those games built upon and innovated. That’s not nostalgia, that’s just being a fan of a formula that hasn’t seen any progression since 2007.

I joined Halo pretty late, never having an xbox, i dont feel any nostalgia, I just look at which Halo games did good, and the ones without sprint did way better, though its more than just the lack of sprint which made them good
I’m an OG Halo player and you don’t see the point and so doesn’t 343i, trying to “evolve” is the reason Halo is now a joke of a franchise compared to the old days.
Halo 3 was the last real Halo game, 343i only needed to keep the same formula, give us better graphics, keep remaking the old maps, include eye candy stuff like dynamic weather and light, keep making new maps, etc. that’s all we wanted, not jet packs and loadouts and stuff that changes the experience.

I really don’t see how bastardizing the gameplay did anything to prevent that. If anything, it accelerated Halo’s decline, if not flat out caused it.

343 failed to pull it off twice so the some of the og fans jump on that fact that sprint and modern elements need to be removed and disappear. I’m an og fan and I don’t see it as a “bastardisation” of the franchise. It’s rather refreshing to have a new take on it haha instead of the old school strafe arena mode. Let’s not forget it was modern for its time it showed fps could be played on consoles. It was ground breaking but still limited at the time. 343s halos haven’t succeeded for a multitude of reasons but saying it’s because of sprint and other modern features is an apparent joke.

See, it’s this. Players look to Halo for something different from a common first-person shooter. When Halo starts playing like all the rest, where do they turn? Halo can advance without copying other shooters. It’s just that 343i never invested the time to understand what Halo was in comparison with other shooters. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a new player or an old one. You should have the opportunity to play a Halo game that feels like a Halo game and not just another generic shooter.
