Hello, I am Username. I’ve been playing Halo since the CE release, I’ve been a member of Xbox LIVE for 9 years going on 10, I was a member of the original Xbox LIVE beta test. I’ve played a couple of matches on the maps Haven & Adrift. I am would place myself as a competitive player (this is more of my mess around account [Yes, I used it to derank & boost] I have 2 accounts, and probably over 50 expired accounts I’ve used for Halo 2-3, my main ‘competitive’ one I can’t access on these forums, I plead the fifth) but I am NOT a pro player (but, I’ve gone to events). I believe that the pro players such as Bravo, etc, aren’t being 100% honest, why? Because it is their CAREER. That being said I don’t think they’re being 100% dishonest with what they’re saying at all moments either. I believe some of the things they say could be because of the ‘new Halo feeling’, and the ‘I get to play this game and you don’t feeling’, just like Reach was the ‘best Halo ever’ the first week because it still had the new car smell. Just try to understand when I say that having a good PR for themselves, and the MLG league benefit them largely, as well as having good relations with 343i members such as Frank O’ Connor.

I would say this game is like both Halo 3 & Reach, where the very basic core mechanics feel similar to Halo 3. Although other then things such as the aiming on some weapons, the feel to some guns, this game feels like a VERY ‘polished’ version of Reach. I believe this game will be picked up for MLG, but later dropped. This game at default settings won’t be hardly anymore competitive then Reach, almost all of the nonforge maps won’t be competitive because so far IMO only Haven is somewhat competitive, and 343 stated something a long the lines of that being the smallest map I believe. MLG is going have to strip down this game to the basics to have this game competitive, and forge the maps. You might be saying what’s wrong with that? Well, the settings being so far from default will discourage playing that playlist. Maps including Haven probably won’t be used, as they were intended for AA’s, MLG won’t have them other then pick ups, so they will want maps designed differently with forge. Not having any viable non-forge maps will further discourage MLG as people don’t only want forge maps. MLG will most likely be forced to drop Halo again because of the numbers of people that take this game seriously competitive wise won’t be much larger then Reach, and it will be unwise to keep it on the circuit because the ratings are so low compared to the other games like, LoL, and SC2.

Basically what I’m saying is this game is going to be great for a lot of the members on this forum, as it will be a fine casual game. Competitive wise it probably won’t be much different then how Reach was, and it’s a shame because there are better routes 343 could’ve gone to make it more equal for the casual and competitive communities. I will still purchase this game as an avid Halo fan (just because someone doesn’t like what it’s becoming doesn’t mean they aren’t, by the way) but I don’t see players such as myself staying for any longer then we did Reach. I don’t know how long the population will be soaring, that will depend on how fun this game really is compared to the last installment for the casual players. You can only polish a turd like Reach so much.

It’s 10:53 AM, and I haven’t slept in over 24 hours. I probably could’ve wrote this much better had I slept and did this when I woke up. There will probably be some stuff missing, errors, bad grammar, bad paragraph and sentence structure, as no proof reading or editing is going to be done, it’s bedtime for me. Goodnight.

Ahh, yet another person using the “Polish n’ Turd” phrase.

Seriously, It’s not cool and it’s not accurate. Stop it.

That’s his opinion. People have a right to think Reach was a turd.

Man, it really stinks that the competitive nature of Halo has been completely removed.

Good read. Someone who didn’t let the new game feel cloud their feelings of H4.

> Man, it really stinks that the competitive nature of Halo has been completely removed.

Do you know why?

Because competition has winners and losers.

Video games are moving towards the “everyone’s a winner”. philosophy.

So jelly.

But it’s nice to hear honesty. Hopefully 343i will read this and take note. Who knows… maybe they’ll do some significant changes in the last few months before we can get our grubby little paws on the [hopefully] beautiful next step in the Halo storyline.

I doubt it, the game’s going gold in several weeks

Yes. Because a Video Game is MOST CERTAINLY comparable to a pile of feces.

Are we going to compare ham sandwiches to computer hard-drives next? Are you going to defend that as well?

Side-note: While I rarely agree with 99% of the people on this forum (Let alone you) I must applaud you for realizing the “We’re all winners!!!” thing is spreading like wildfire.

Its like the poll says/shows: a opinion.
And its your god giving right bro, but i still think it will be fine.

At the end of the day, someone loses or wins. That’s all I need to keep bringing my competitiveness to the table.

But when losers get trophies. It hardly seems to matter right?o_O

I don’t take losing well (more so I don’t like losing), and definitely don’t feel rewarded at all when I lose in Reach tbh.

Really? Because I lost in double team two days ago and got a 30,000 credit bonus.

What message does that send?

Trophies are nothing more than golden-coloured pieces of metal which symbolize triumphal victories.

Knowing that I won is reward enough for me.

Hopefully Halo 4’s newer ranking system will be more harsh towards losers, and make them know that they have lost, unlike Reach, where losers gained the same amount of credits as the winning team. Halo 3’s system did this just fine. It was harsh towards losers, and rewarded winners.

Reach jackpots are just random like that. It’s not because you loss that you got it.

I’m glad that MLG is moving away from Halo.
