Tactics, anyone?

in halo wars, tactics that can confuse, outnumber, outmatch, or out maneuver the enemy aren’t used often

so, whats the most tactical strategy you’ve ever used in Halo wars?

mine, is sorta good, i use forge, make hornets, and a buch of marines/cyclopses, and assault the base with the hornets
and then when/if my hornets become outmatched, i peli-drop my marines into that area to support my hornets

my enemy becomes surprised at the sudden army of marines attacking them as well as hornets

I have 3 different tactics myself

If Im using brute I make 10 brutes 4 hunters and the rest jackals
The brutes and hunters go in the front encase of a random ron day view with enemy vehicles. The brutes and hunters combo is fear by most cutters
The jackals are for air and infantry.
Most people dont relies just how over powered jackals are. They are infantry them selves this gives them a boost against air. There also anti infantry meaning they can almost instakill marines and odsts. so using this is like a all out anti unsc tactic if you do it right. Its actually how I 1 v 3ed a unsc team after I lost my friends to the power of hawks odst’s and grizzlys.

I have another with prophet but the brutes are replaced with honorgaurds. the honorgaurds just go behind with cloak and attack while my jackals and hunters blast stuff.

with forge I just vulture, cyclops, and power turret and just blow stuff up

I usually do hunters and jackals + grunt as the prophet of regret.

When it comes to the AI or another player, just be the faster. Otherwise, you’ll get raped. For the AI on Legendary, I always win (Only with Sgt. Forge) 1 on 1 when I build two supply pads, one reactor, & two barracks. I spawn marines from both barracks so that they come out faster, & Sgt. Forge has the ability to “Build Heavy Supply Pads right away”. The reactor is so you can get the first upgrade for the marines (New Blood). Just build up an army as fast as you can, but make a rally point for them that’s away from the base. Make sure you build enough resources to upgrade your marines to have the Rocket Launcher passive ability.
After the AI attacks & sends their army to your base, march your army of marines over to their base. Make your company walk to the very back of the enemy base & have them all shoot the enemy Command Post. Use the rockets & what not, but be careful. When the AI base is in danger of destruction, the AI will rally all its troops back to its base to defend it. So it all depends on how large your army got, if they had rockets, & if you increased your population limit.
If you’re going against another player, do that, but with a “Warthog Rush”.

late game
anders:
3 sp tanks, 2 regular tanks
10 wolves
6 gremlins…greater then any army but straight anti vehicle(hunters/cobras)
and witha well placed freeze only cobras can beat it

as covie I usually go hunters, counter unit, locusts. unless your against triple covie, someone will always make vehicles at some point + hunters have high health. counter unit is either vampires or jackals or just more hunters. lastly, locusts make sure that I can do maximum building damage while still having lots of counters pumping out.

that works really well.

i dont know how you can stand using hunters
they are so slow and tanks can kill them easily. :frowning:

the only times i use hunters is when am the prophet.

other than that, i usually go vampires/wraiths/ counter unit after scouting.

Basically, the most tactical game i’ve ever played:

It was a 2v2, on terminal moraine (the map with the light bridges). I was Cutter, my partner Anders, against two Arbiters. My friend was defeated to an early covie rush, but fortunately I had taken one of the island bases in the first 5 minutes of the game. I left my original base for dead, and made the island base my new main base. That decision saved my life. I captured the extra reactor and made a doubled reactor, made the two extra building slots supply pads, and started making cobras and wolves. I locked down my cobras in front of my base and the light bridge, and started teching up and building. Nothing could touch me at this base. I fought minute by minute, as waves of covenant wraiths and locusts would try to defeat me, but my cobras prevailed. Eventually they decided to send in banshees, but my wolverines chewed them up. Then they started sending in scarabs over the mountain in the back, but my 4x mac blast destroyed them, one by one. After I had finally had everything researched, (which took a LONG time considering I was running off of 4 supply pads), my wolverines and cobras all at three stars, I decided to charge the bridge with ODSTs the next time it went up. I killed all of the units, then pelican lifted tanks to support them over the chasm. I slowly went around the map, destroying and retaking bases, defeated one player, then I finally had the last player trapped on their island base. They had a HUGE hunter and banshee defense, so I set up my cobras on the edge of the chasm near the light bridge. I then charged my ODSTs across the bridge and as soon as the base was in range, my cobras began laying siege to their last base from across the chasm. Whenever my ODSTs died, I just dropped more. I mac’d the last base and had my ODSTs and tanks finish off their units, and I won the game.

End Game Stats:
Game length: 3 hours 39 minutes.
Squads killed: 1000
Scarabs killed: 27
ODSTs built/lost: 318/297
Spartans built/lost 3/0 (because spartans are epic)
wraiths killed: 180
locusts killed: 89
Supplies collected: 210,000 (roughly)
Score: 4000 w/o multiplier

A suicide run on the enemies bases on fort deen a 3v3 game as me and my team mates were getting owned. I sent all my units to the enemy bases as a last ditch move. I was anders with small amount of hawks, 5 tanks, one 8 star spartan grizzle, two wolverines and a few gauss-hogs took down all the enemy starter bases as their armies attack our bases.
They notice the loss of their bases so the enemy anders sent in their hawks to kill my units as the other two head to my bases. I made sure that the enemy anders didn’t take a base. As my bases were destroyed the enemy anders was defeated. And before I was defeated by forge’s grizzles and wolverines I bought my teams mates an arbiter and forge time to build hunters and grizzles to win us the game

But most of the time this tactic just leads to base swapping
