Tactical Slayer (Swat) Constructive Criticism

I enjoy large maps in swat. It’s closer to snipers than actual snipers playlist since they won’t use large maps for them.

gonna be honest I really like launch site for swat. it may be because I do notably better with the BR at the long ranges and so I am usually better on that map. but still I think it works fine for the most part. behemoth though I kinda agree shouldnt be in swat. feels to open for a one burst kill gamemode.

Definitely Remove Behemoth but I’m fine with keeping Launch Site but removing Bazaar, Bazaar is a campfest

I’m seeing a lot of people say they enjoy Launch Site, which is surprising but I respect that opinion. I think we all agree that Behemoth needs to go though.

The main feedback I have for SWAT is this:

FIX. THE. NETCODE.

Seriously… it’s the worst I’ve seen in a game with dedicated servers in a long time. There’s often a noticeable and large delay between hitting your shot and getting confirmation of the kill. It’s common that shots just don’t even seem to register… I swear I got a headshot and yet nothing happens. And I get killed behind corners/walls all the time.

Honestly, the netcode in Infinite’s SWAT mode feels worse than Halo 1’s netcode in the MCC and I’m pretty sure that netcode is held together by duct tape and spaghetti.

SWAT is awesome…but I would LOVE a Ranked SWAT. Just BR headshots all day. I hope they come out with a ranked version of SWAT.

I want a ranked one as well, but 343 needs to get the rampant cheating under control by either separating systems/input options to segregate out most cheaters, or stepping up the anti-cheat routine.

I’ve got to wonder if cheating is as rampant as you are all claiming or…if you are just getting clobbered…in MCC I was averaging 18-20 kills per game in SWAT. Not so much so far in Infinite, I can keep it positive for the most part, but the camping is real and the de-sync…I’ve about had enough of that.

Can’t say I’ve seen to many cheaters…though I’ll shout it out anytime I get waxed, I pretty much just resign myself for being slow on the trigger…

Unless you have evidence to the contrary…

I would like this too, but only if they can fix/improve the netcode.

I would find SWAT on current netcode very frustrating if I cared about winning/performance each game.

I’ll start this by admitting I’m a filthy casual, but I don’t mind launch site for swat, and the commandois deadly accurate precision weapon on that first shot, id enjoy commando swat a lot I think.
I think its a mistake to not make use of the already limited sandbox.
I know for competitive/ranked playlists the less random the better but it’s tedious to your average players to play the same thing on repeat.

I agree on the bigger maps not working as well for Tactical Slayer. Behemoth specially its too big and too open.

Swat on behemoth causes me physical pain spawning out in the open as the other team is camping straight across the map to 1 shot me instantly :upside_down_face:
I love swat on all of the small maps though

I much prefer Reach for SWAT, the DMR required much more trigger discipline and skill. Three round burst is the most unrealistic fire mode for a tactical team to use. That’s why it’s literally never used in combat. In this game it makes it too easy for people to just get 1 lucky bullet in 3 to hit the head.

Also, a lot of the spawns are trash! Spawns should never be openly visible down a long, straight plane. Especially in a 1 hit kill gametype!

What does anyone think about an AR-only mode?

AR + frag/plasma grenades + Equipment
sounds fun.

I’m in favor of getting rid of behemoth in SWAT. I think it would be okay if everyone had a sniper or a pistol but for BRs and with no equipment it’s unpleasant.

I think the best possible setup is to have what Call of Duty has. They have boxes people can check for what map and what gametype to allow when searching in a mode. Splitgate has a similar setup. That way I can search for the weird modes while you can have your play-it-straight and hardcore modes.

The mangler idea is interesting. I hadn’t considered it.

That sort of matchmaking already exists in Halo. The MCC makes use of it to select your different game modes and which game engine to use.

Yes, but it was more like a series of buckets you could choose from. There were a lot of things you couldn’t opt out of. There was no way to know every gametype or forge map inside of each one (checking while queuing for matchmaking only showed you something like KOTH on Lockout) and the percent chance of getting a certain kind of mode was also unknown.

Or they can do it where you have 3 options and you would vote for a map. I remember being able to Veto maps back in Halo 3 and it was awesome.

Useless Gamemode with cross-input. I used to love the SWAT variants in Halo 5 :frowning:

So my issue with Swat, or Tactical Slayer because Swat is too difficult to say or something, is the Commando and the Stalker Rifle being included as possible loadouts. Mangler I get. Sidekick I get. Battle Rifle is kinda obvious. The Commando is a fully automatic weapon, which do not belong in Swat. Yes, it can get precision kills, but half the people I come across, myself as well, just end up spraying and praying a stray bullet will hit someone in the head. The Stalker Rifle is a sniper rifle. I shouldn’t be hopping on Swat and feeling like I clicked Team Snipers by mistake. Remove these weapons from the Swat loudouts and the maps Trance mentioned, and the game mode should be much more tolerable and fun.
