Well this game was designed from the very beginning to be live-service & free-to-play, so the one thing we can be certain of is that things will change in it over time; they’ve already said as much. I honestly hope they bring the Match Composer from Halo MCC over, but don’t anticipate that happening anytime soon. That would solve the vast majority of complaints with regards to playlists and game-types people have been having.
Is this satire? If not we could use a mod to lockup the thread
swat has been in almost every halo its been a halo thing since h2 not a cod thing
id more curios how that would work here where as mcc is basically 6 halo titles to choose and that made matches hard to find sometimes like the play matches in ce and reach I hardly found matches for that challenge but found matches for the h2 h3 match challenge like no problem
but since its only 1 title and I can take a guess form the current playlists it’d be broken fro the 4v4 as is with qucikplay being slayer and obcjtive and the sperates form that with a slayer only an objective only and the action sack only like fiesta and apply that to btb rinse and repeat
Halo has had swat/tactical slayer since Halo 2 custom games, stop being stupid by comparing the game mode to any other shooter.
That’s actually funny if true(still stupid and misguided), “SWAT” is a tv show. No dept that I know of uses the term “SWAT” for their teams. It is far more likely to hear some variation of “Tactical team”
Have, have you never played swat?
Stop saying 99.9% of players and halo fans don’t call it SWAT…I’m a Halo fan, been one since CE, and its SWAT.
You don’t speak for me, so -Yoink!-. If you want to post your opinion do so, don’t dredge up fake statistics to try and prove a point, which you obviously don’t know the first thing about.
As a lot of people have pointed out, tactical slayer is just SWAT, that has been in Halo since halo 3, maybe 2 but I didn’t play MP on that and I don’t know if MCC changed that.
It’s definitely not emulating CoD, because:
- everything OHK on headshots in swat, CoD allows you to pop SMG and other small arms fire into heads and you can shrug it off.
- There are no loadouts, pick 13, killstreaks, perks, any of that
- It was designed as an alternate game mode that changes halo rules, the main rules here being changed that there is no shield or radar (EDIT: As well as precision weapon spawns to guarantee the OHK, BR, Carbine, Magnum), everything else about it is still Halo, just like Husky raid a is halo thing, like how infection is a halo thing, you don’t see anyone saying that those are emulating other games.
- It has been this way for at least 14 years and nothing has changed about it, so I don’t know why you’re bringing it up now.
I can only come to the conclusion that Halo infinite is the first Halo game you’ve played and you’ve failed to do any research on the subject, or even after 14 years, that’s not long enough to make it a staple game mode in your eyes.
With all due respect, this is a poor opinion that is borderline bait if not just bait.
If you don’t like swat, stay out of it, simple as.
You must be new to Halo….
Lol tell me you’ve never played halo without telling me you’ve never played halo
Tactical slayer or as it used to be known swat has been a gametype since halo 2 adding sheilds to tactical slayer would completely defeat the purpose of tactical slayer
Probably the most clueless thread in this forum yet. xD
The issue with using a sidekick is it is a one shot to the head with very fast shooting. While Halo 3 had a magnum as a secondary weapon, the fire rate was very slow so it wasn’t more OP than the BR.
In Halo Infinite, the Sidekick is a very spammable pistol at long and close range, and being able to get a one shot headshot kill with it seems overpowered in my opinion.
I think SWAT should stay the same with BR’s (or DMR’s if they re-add that gun).
What makes it less enjoyable is the lack of bloom. You can laser people across the whole map. I loved it in H3, but for me it’s no real fun withthe current gameplay and map design
Like others have said, this Tactical slayer is just like the SWAT gametype that has been in Halo for over a decade. It’s not there to emulate CoD.
With the same logic you might as well remove CTF, Strongholds and Slayer because they emulate old arena shooters like Quake Arena and Unreal Tournament.
Most, if not all, gametypes in Halo are mimicking older games.
Either way, regardless of what you think about the gametype, it’s not going anywhere because it has always been a popular gametype in Halo since it was introduced. Its existence shouldn’t bother you anyway because you can choose not to play it.
I feel like you must be doing this on purpose. I hope you’re not genuinely this mentally disabled in real life.
To be fair, this is 343. The ‘fix what isn’t broken’ company.

Swats been in halo forever, as I see it the only problem with the swat Playlist is the lack of modes, sidekick & commando swat would be sweet, mangler and stalker starts could also work.
I dont really care if it’s ranked or not.
But including shields would completely erase the gamemode, itd just be slayer, which I love. But it ain’t swat
Facts. We gotta remember though that most these kids are coming from COD or fortnite. They’re unaware of what Halo truly is
Seeing a new generation join Halo is so entertaining. Swat has been around since before you’ve been born young Spartan. Also warzone’s graphics do not come close to competing with Halo IMO.
