Tactical slayer has “potential” as long as they stop EMULATING CoD.
If they put the shields it would be a “Slayer-Ranked” mode in theory which would be fantastic, but in the current state without Shields it is Call of duty not HALO.
With all due respect, if I wanted to play CoD there I have WAR-ZONE for free with much better graphics than HALO and if I wanted to kill with 1 shot then I would go to Battlefield 2042.
HALO must maintain its essence and not try to emulate other titles.

Tactical Slayer’s purpose is to emulate the SWAT playlists of past Halos, not CoD; the main staples of those game-types has always been precision weapon primary, no radar, & no shields. I personally think that playlist should have Sidekick for a backup weapon, but as is they got it mostly right.
As for not emulating other titles, you’re about 10 years too late. That’s pretty much been par for the course ever since 343i took over.

Swat has always been this way, one headshot deaths and no shields

That’s how SWAT always has been, if the whole game was like that then ya there is some room to complain but as a mode it’s fine.

The 3 SLAYER modes were not correctly added.
The only thing 343 had to do was
Add a “Quick-play” Slayer without radar and without vehicles, this mode would serve to warm up before ranked and to have an experience close to what is played in competitive mode
Adding a “Ranked” slayer without radar and without vehicles, this slayer should share leaver / thrower penalties with the main competitive mode which has stronghold, capture flag and odd ball.
Not even halo fans call it “Swat” mode they say Halo-Duty or Halo-CoD slayer mode … From 2007 to 2021 CoD is the most iconic and popular FPS in the world it is natural that people do not have No idea what the Halo Swat Mode is.

As many have stated, Tactical Slayer is just SWAT from previous games. It’s usually with a precision weapon, no shields, and plenty of headshots. I have no clue why they changed the name though.

They changed the name because of Microsoft and 343’s overall sensitivity to BLM and the anti police movement. Same reason they removed the Mombasa police emblem from halo 5. Can’t have anything in the game that seems sympathetic to police

Ah ok. That’s… That’s just sad. Makes sense now though.

I mean, that hasn’t been confirmed but can you think of any other reason to change the name of something that’s been around since 04? Lol

If we are going to go to extremes then HALO did not invent anything, it was already doom, quake and a unreal tournament years before …
My point is that CoD and Battlefield are the benchmarks in terms of killing “fast” and “instantly” and 99.9% of the people who come from other titles will identify the HALO-SWAT mode as “Oh it looks like CoD”
And the point of this topic is that 343 adds a correct Slayer not 3 modes which are not suitable for warm up.
I mean im with you, I always thought tactical slayer was the mode with only brs, no radars or abilities, kinda like past games MLG mode. Very stupid change but hopefully they change it when people stop complaining.
Fortnite didnt put police related skins in the shop for a while during that time, and eventually added them back, im hoping Halo would do the same.

tactical slayer and ranked slayer don’t need to be the same thing. tactical slayer/SWAT has never had shields.

I guess they changed the name for the “new generation of Spartans”.
When I see “tactical” in halo I think of reach’s objectives playlist from back in the days
