"Tactical Ops" Should Replace "Tactical Slayer" in Matchmaking After the Event

This playlist has more variation and is more fun than standard-vanilla BR swat. Taking all these variations out after this event will be a(nother) big step backwards. We all know that this game needs more content, so lets keep adding to matchmaking instead of subtracting from it.

I disagree - mainly because I love SWAT BRs and hate SWAT Manglers.

It should stay as an option in addition to the usual playlist.

What they should do is make Tactical Slayer be just BR SWAT.

Then they should introduce Mangler SWAT, Sidekick SWAT, Commando SWAT, and Stalker SWAT as an alternate set of game-modes.

As one playlist.
Also, Team Snipers should be added.

Absolutely not. Sidekick is annoying and Mangler is the least fun Ive ever had in any game mode in any Halo. Ide rather play fiesta for the rest of my life than one more round of Mangler.

Sidekick was terrible, not going to lie.
But Mangler was actually pretty interesting.

Only if they make significant changes.
I would very much like to see the Sidekick removed from the mode altogether. SWATs “beauty” is that it works extremely well in both close quarters and at long distance engagements, as well as being precise.
The Sidekick has bloom making a lot of encounters random. While Behemoth was the absolutely worst choice they could put in for Sidekicks, to me, it showed why Sidekicks doesn’t really work as you could get a random headshot, or both players spent five reloads each at long distance. As soon as one player started trying to close the gap, the chances increased to be killed.

The Mangler was interesting, and I started finding some sort of enjoyment out of it. It doesn’t really work at a distance, but it didn’t have Bloom, you needed to lead shots as well as consider bullet drop. Frustrating at first but I did start enjoying it. Which was the opposite of the Sidekick, I somewhat enjoyed it at first but grew resentful of the Sidekick mode.

I’d like to see the Sidekick get replaced with the Shock Rifle, if it is removed and has to be replaced with something.
Another interesting weapon to test out could be the Stalker Rifle.
I doubt I’d be too fond of the Commando, while it works at a distance, it too features bloom as you hold the trigger in close distances, and I think it kills unshielded opponents rather fast.

Bots can easily get a headshot from across Behemoth with a Mangler.
I’d say it’s possible for players to do that as well, and I’ve done it and seen it done somewhat frequently during the event I think.
You just have to consider the bullet drop as you said.

Not sure if I’m getting this right but did you just suggest pushing all the precision based 1 headshot kill modes into one playlist then suggest we add another playlist with precision based 1 headshot kill?

If Team Snipers is standalone, BR Swat should be standalone.
All that Mangler and whatever crap can be custom games.

Please no. I like tactical ops but sometimes I just want to play regular old br swat. During the event I actually scrolled down looking for regular tactical slayer because I thought it’d be there like fiesta was at first, hoping to use the br for a bit after constant sidekicks.

Team Snipers.
Tactical BRs.
Tactical Slayer (Mangler, Sidekick, Commando, etc.).

I can see a Shock Rifle variant in Team Snipers.

I think over the years I got used to MCC swat playlist which included all the variants together. But I see what you mean.

The entire problem with having a playlist is if each specific selection inside that playlist vary in gameplay experience, there will be an upset party who wants a specific experience and have to spin the wheel to get it. That’s just not stellar, and the fact that SWAT aside from BR will be niche after the event will make that single playlist deserted.

It would be much better to leave that as customs option, really.

This is why I feel Playlists need to be split:

BTB Slayers
BTB Objectives
Team Slayers
Team Objectives
Team Fiesta
FFA and FFA Fiesta could belong together since it’s a 1v All experience regardless of mode
Team Snipers
SWAT

Quickplay encompasses all of the above, throwing you into whatever match requires a fill.

And to wrap this up, REMOVE EVERY SINGLE GAME MODE SPECIFIC CHALLENGE, MAKE THEM PLAYLIST SPECIFIC INSTEAD

Instead of play Oddball 3x, become play Team Objectives 3x.

Could work. In the MCC the swat playlist is heavily weighted towards BR modes. While throwing in pistols once in a while to mix it up. I see your worry because i do see that this would not work with a purely random system.

I like. I would like more slayer variants in Slayer playlists tbh. mix in BR slayer, banished slayer, swords etc. Just have them properly weighted for MM.

Would be also nice if “score flag,” “kill with oddball,” or “capture zones” got replace by a simple “get ___ objective medals”

Ideally, we’d have a separate playlist for each mode, and a way to combine them ourselves.

Isn’t this still going to make people upset about spinning the wheel?

I agree, but they’re likely trying to get people to play longer.

Tactical Snipers and Tactical Bulldogs anyone?

You’re absolutely right. Which is why it will be removed for the next 2-4 months following the “event” while the team carefully ignores the feedback.

Also here’s a blog post on why removing all the content is a good thing actually. You don’t really want options or variety, what you actually want is more microtransactions driven by FOMO.

I totally agree. The main reason I stay away from Tactical is because, for me it’s gets boring after about two games. Just having different weapons changes up the game play completely for each one which I like.

So this is a yes vote for me. Please make this a permanent playlist after the event.
