That’s great but I don’t think a company developing a product should ever have their consumer feeling that they need to “cope” with the failings of a product. That’s not good business practice.
The reason MySpace fell out of favor to Twitter and Facebook was because of its failings as a product. As of now the only reason that Halo isn’t simply drowning in its own failure is because there basically is no competition.
The problem here isn’t the grind, it’s the fun. It’s not fun and you’re forced to play a single playlist in order to progress. No game does this, only Halo Infinite. Other games with grind has players play their current content and litter it with Event specific objectives, not streamline and condense all the gameplay into one single game mode.
This is akin to opening the Casino but the only thing open is slots. So if you wanna earn anything you must play slots. Black Jack? Poker? Nah, slots or gtfo.
At this point, I’m convinced that every week, 343 has a meeting where they go through a checklist about how they can make the game as little fun as possible.
There’s actually a lot of room to make this a very enjoyable mode, but the way they’re doing it isn’t more enjoyable. If you like swat and you want variety, that’s absolutely understandable. But we’re talking about an event here, for which a minor game mode tweak really doesn’t qualify.
Even if it DID qualify, the number of weapon modes is way too low. Make an all sniper rifle match! Where’s the stalker rifle mode? Why are shock rifles not SWAT variant, but the MANGLER made its way on that list?
It’s like… not ONLY is the idea bad, but the execution of the idea could have been much easier- except then the challenges couldn’t really be, “Get 5 kills with an assault rifle,” because you would have even less of a chance of being in that kind of match.
I don’t mind ‘sweaty game modes’ as events, but dear lord, pistol mangler on repeat makes me wanna just aim at the sky and empty magazines.
I’m sorry but I was unaware that Mangler even made it into this event because I spent an entire week playing and never saw the game mode once.
(I’m entirely aware that Mangler was a game mode)
just the steam side, since that is the only side we can public measure, they are almost down to the point where they should consider themselves lucky to get 10k players. today itself might be one of the last few days it peaks over the 10k line.

if you zoom that chart out you can see the slide into sadness too. it’s fallen so far i’m not even sure it will see much of a season roll over bump. players going to read these change logs where nothing that mattered got fixed and be like meh.
hell, i forgot this game even existed for the past 30 days. i’d prove it but i don’t even think we have web stat profiles for this game yet either.
“oh i should check the top of the forums to see what they are peddling recently”
sees still, nothing of import fixed, or even, attempted to be fixed. just more acidic smoke.
Yea…challanges are crap, gated by an extremely inferior and nothing but play time bloating system plus the specific weapon based challanges for a game mode where they rotate the guns without having a clue what is the current rotation…
I stopped caring for Tactical Ops, and I’m getting very close to deleting the game, glad I have not wasted money on this trash.
Let’s not forget they dedicated an entire event to their crappy half-baked revamp of Free-For-All.
Honestly, no clue why it’s a whole--Yoink!- gamemode when it’s (in the games’ own damn words] just “FFA Atrition…” Oh! I forgot that it’s completely new and fresh because it’s also GunGame! With a Life Pool! How fresh and new and fresh!
Thank God they’ll keep shelling out random gamemodes instead of fixing rampant packet loss/latency issues.
