I have been thinking about how they could provide more options for random weapons, and how they could implement game modes like gun game.
If you don’t know, gun game is a gamemode where there is a list of weapons, where everyone spawns with the first weapon. When they kill someone, their weapon gets replaced by the next weapon in the list. And the first one to get a kill with the last weapon, wins.
For custom games, there would need to be a way for you to choose which weapons you would like in the list. But instead of limiting that option to just gun game, they could implement a system that could be used for far more than just one game mode, which could be called arsenal.
An arsenal would consist of a list that you can fill with different weapons. The order you put them in, would determine the order that’s used for gun game. There would be options for each weapon where you could change the rarity/chance and perhaps other options such as score multipler, damage, ammo, etc. Once you have created an arsenal, you could save it, so that you can use it later. And like maps, game modes and prefabs, you would be able to share arsenals through the content browser.
Arsenals could let you choose which random weapons you could spawn with. So you could do fiesta, but with only certain weapons like, human, covenant, melee, long range, explosive, highest level Reqs and so on. And with the rarity setting in the arsenal, you could also make certain weapons more common than other.
This could even be applied to weapon pads, so if you want a weapon pad that got a 10% chance of spawning a Req rocket launcher, you could do that. There could also be the option to cycle through the weapons, similar to gun game. So for example, as the match progresses, you could have more powerful weapons starting to spawn on the weapon pad.
Previous games had the option to choose which weapons you want on the map, such as human or covenant only. Now you have to go in to forge and actually edit the map if you want to change that, but that’s not exactly ideal. So with arsenals, that option could be implemented and allow you even more control than before. So it could replace weapons on a map, based on the weapons that’s included in an arsenal. So if there are BRs on the map, but it’s not included in the arsenal, they would be replaced by a similar weapon from the arsenal, such as a Halo 2 BR, Carbine or a DMR.
