I have to say I am disappointed in the so called “Halo community.” All I ever see on these forums anymore are people hating on 343 Industries. The people who I think care about Halo as much as Bungie keep getting insulted by the fans who they try to make proud. Its disappointing to say the least and most of all disrespectful. Everybody should get an opinion but its just depressing to see 343i getting beat up like this.
After seeing that GDC video yesterday, they don’t deserve my sympathy. They aren’t your friends. They’re a damn company, for God’s sake! To 343i, money talks and that video yesterday proved that that’s all they care about.
Oi, instead of calling out the peeps complaining about it, perhaps you could offer up constructive things that you like about the game.
I honestly like Ordinance Drops, I just wish they were more themed to play styles. I’m also a huge fan of the maps in this game. I think the only map I don’t like is Abandon for it’s lopsided cluster-fudge in the top lift room. It’s too reminiscent of Sword Base…
343i used to have my sympathy, but with the -Yoink- they said at the GDC, my only reason to even have an Xbox is gone. I liked Halo because it required some level of intelligence to win a game, and now 343i is taking that away. Why should they have my sympathy anymore?
I may not like the game but I never thought 343 deserved all the hate. But after GDC they deserve every little bit that is thrown at them. You do not dumb down a game to try and appeal to the most people possible. You do not reduce the skill gap because you thought it was to hard and was off putting to people.
They took the only fps franchise that I have played (besides UT) and destroyed it. All in the name of making the game more accessible yea the deserve everything coming to them.
Halo used to be about skill, timing, and map control. Now its just like COD as the learning curve went down.
I lost all respect for 343 when they decided to lie to justify there gameplay decisions (progession system for one)
It happens with EVERY game. If they can’t deal with criticism then they shouldn’t be a developer.
There is substantial reason to; they ruined (as a less destructive word, devolved) the game hundreds of thousands of players have loved.

As everyone above me said, they completely deserve all of the angst and hate they are receiving.
It’s not just speculation anymore, they dumbed the game down on purpose. They made it easier and more accessible for the sole reason that it seemed to hard to the worse players. They killed this game, and it was no accident. And with the amount of passion and soul that I had for this franchise, I seriously want their entire team fired. It’s disgusting.

Agreed x10! I’ve pretty much lost hope for this franchise going forward. I have the season pass, so I’ll play the Castle Maps and get the achievements, but once I get to SR130 and get those achievements, I think I’ll be done with Halo 4, unless Legendary Slayer really REALLY delivers.
But for all intents and purposes, Halo 5 is their last shot. And it better have a public beta, because now we really know why they didn’t have one for Halo 4. I had hoped to never say these words, but I’m sick of this crap.
Liars and the ignorant deserve no sympathy.
(Personal part removed. If that is the reason I was censored for non-constructiveness then I’m sorry but -_-)
Continuation: I honestly don’t see how you can support 343 anymore. They tried to please, but failed, and then made up an excuse for that.
I haven’t watched the GDC video, but Now I’m looking for it. I had high hopes for 343 and Halo 4. It’s all about selling t-shirts, dolls, and DLC.
They don’t care about you, they made this game to appeal to the non halo players to make more money, and now the actual fans don’t have an actual halo game and those players they tried to appeal to went back to cod and other games that they like more.
The gaming world has become an angry mass of entitled gamers who demand perfection and have little to no empathy, sympathy or understanding of the development process. The tiniest flaw in a game will bring about the utmost rage from a gamer who truly believes that things must be 100% to his liking. Also, every single person becomes a “critic” too now, thanks to the internet; one would be hard pressed to find an individual who doesn’t have seething opinions/critiques as to how to “fix the game”, as if they know what they are talking about.
Semi-related: I develop small-scale casual games and I get so many emails or comments as to why they think my game is broken/how to fix it or what I should have done instead. So many people think they themselves would have made my game superior had they been involved in the process, but i’d say about 90% of the time, those comments are -Yoink- and those people have absolutely no idea what they are talking about, nor have they ever actually designed or launched a game. The internet just gives them a voice - a cold, unforgiving, overly-critical voice.
That being said though, there are just as many nice comments/emails as nerd rage ones. But I only seem to focus on the negative ones for some reason.
I watched the 343i panel discussion and I didn’t hear one thing that was unreasonable or cringeworthy. Definitely nothing deserving of so much disaffection.
Maybe it’s me. I admit that, while I’m a ‘huge fan’ I do not feel the same level of personal connection to the Halo series as most people seem to feel.
It’s a sci-fi IP that I really really enjoy but I didnt make it or even contribute to it in any substantial way so I dont feel the level of entitlement that most seem to feel.
In short I do not feel 343, Bungie or Microsoft owe me anything especially since I voluntarily chose to purchase their merchandise.

343i is a joke. They deserve no sympathy whatsoever. Turns out everyone was right in saying they implemented all of this bull to pander to the COD crowd and now they finally admit it. They dont give a damn about the core players of the halo franchise. Theyve killed competetive halo so they can suck a fat one.
I supported 343 long after launch, I Supported them even though my friends have dropped Halo all Together now because of Halo 4 and I’m the last one left. The GDC panel brought it all home For me though.
343 are looking after COD fans and Reach fans, I’m done with Xbox from here on in and I’m done with whatever Halo has become.
343i don’t need your misplaced sympathy, OP. They’re not poor little underdogs who are being bullied by us horrible forumites. They’re (collectively, not individually) a company who overhyped the underwhelming game they eventually delivered, took our money, and fell short on their promises.
This would be forgivable if they then made things right, listened to their faithful community, and delivered on some of their unfulfilled promises. With the exception of a few nice gestures like weapon nerfs (unnecessary if they’d had a public beta) and the new Forge Island, they’ve spectacularly failed to listen to the wants and needs of their userbase.
What makes it really, really frustrating is the way they won’t even acknowledge us, and actually verge on lying. “The community WANTED a more accessible game where it’s easier to get kills” - absolute bull. “Teehee, we’ve heard nothing about players demanding a DMR nerf” - then try reading your own damn forums, you blind fools.
343i have shown they value one thing - our money. Not our trust, not our input, not our ideas or requests or concerns. They want our money and then for us to shut up and be happy with what we’re given. But hey, too late now, perhaps we should all preorder Halo 5, 3431 NEED our funding to include all those features like visible 1-50, functional red X, UNSC fliers and campaign theatre? And perhaps I should tattoo “mug” across my forehead while I’m at it.
Well if you give out -Yoink-, you’re going to get it right back in your face.
