So, I walk into a bar, sword in pocket. Suddenly another dusty Cowpoke appears by my side. Startled we pull out our swords simultaneously and stab at each other. Suddenly I take a few steps back to dodge the attack and slice him back before he can get another stab in. Outcome: Me dead on the floor as he joyously -Yoinks- me. Yay.
Since the weapon is only good in melee range, it has to be better then other options available or there’d be absolutely no reason to pick it up over other weapons. Once you get out of melee range, it’s worthless and even makes you stand out thanks to the bright glow of the weapon.
Last I checked as well, is that the Sword is a power weapon as well. Meaning it’s suppose to be “powerful”.
Yeah, that’s the only thing it really shines over other weapons. But you still need to get close to the target to actually be able to use that against them.
I still feel people want to make it so situation that it’ll get little to no use, and might as well not be considered a power weapon by any means any more lol. If anything, if you want to take the lunge out or lower it, you should some compensation with a buff in another manner, say… Allow the player to run at a faster pace to be better at closing the distance to target enemies perhaps, like the enhanced sword does.
It also kind of bugs me that there are power weapons that are significantly easier to use then the sword in all ranges, yet it seems only the sword is called out at being good at what it’s suppose to be good at…
Yeah because the sword is busted. Have you just not played ranked? Maybe it’s better now but you seem to fundamentally misunderstand how utterly absurdly busted it’s been this last YEAR.
I haven’t touched ranked in this iteration of Halo. If I were take take a serious play of the game, it would be more community driven like I do with other games personally. Not through a first part ranked match, community driven competitive formats are generally better suited for actual competitive set ups. But I never saw it difficult to deal with Sword users in most matches unless playing in very cramped situations. Which I generally don’t tie to being the Swords fault directly, but more of the map design and placing the sword on it to begin with by the people who created it.
If it is truly a problematic weapon though, then there should be video evidence by now that showcases this problem. Not just in small maps were it’s suppose to excel in mind you, but also in BTB sized maps.

Going to assume that it’s not actually OP. It’s just hated because people just don’t enjoy playing against it or they don’t like being forced to change things up in order to counter it most likely.
Like how people treat the Pyro in Team Fortress 2.
You know balancing is relevant in all modes right? If it’s too good in ranked then maybe they should just remove it from ranked.
Only thing I would like to see is reducted ammo count. The rockets are way more powerful but they run out so fast that people don’t seem to complain about them nearly as much.
Reduced ammo count is actually the ranked solution so you’re close enough to the money.
Yes, balancing is relevant in all modes, but all balancing in all modes should be tight, smart, well thought out, fair and most of all, fun and rewarding.
I tend to be very blunt with my opinions to the point people don’t like interacting to me, well blunt and I generally don’t sugar coat things, often leading people often assume I’m mad or aggressive because of it. It’s easier to find an excuse to dismiss someone then provide some evidence ( when asked if any exist to showcase it being a problem ) of it being a problem when I guess no such evidence exists maybe, at least out side of he said she said situations lol.
Hell, there’s a few people that follow me around and stamp me with “Bait” and “Missed the Point” on just about every post I make here at times. I guess I should feel honored to be living rent free in their heads all this time

I also had a longer think about the sword and realised that the only time I ever get really annoyed at the sword (and hammer) is when playing Oddball on Recharge. I might be the only one but I’d be pretty happy if it never spawned on that particular game and map combination. Just throw in a different power weapon or maybe even none at all.
I play rank - only pick up the sword off dead bodies. Being a power weapon I don’t have an issue with its range. I expect the player to pick up a rocket launcher to use its ammo and get two kills, at the least. I expect the same with the sword.
How many swipes does it get? Does it have the same respawn time as the rockets?
Just… Fix the lag/desync and it should be fine honestly. Normally the range is ok given the maps layout, but when that awful 10m lunge kick on then yeah, the weapon becomes broken.
Absolutely - sword should replace Camo on recharge to put it up central. The sword being sidelined out the way on the map or favoured towards C spawn makes the weapon less powerful in its status.
Don’t GA it embrace it. Fight for it. Right now in its current position on recharge one side is at a disadvantage to an extent. (C spawn can also block A spawn from reaching shock rifle).
So your telling me a the Energy Sword lunge distance is to far while I’m thinking you haven’t been play Halo long enough.
The Energy Sword distance, ammo, and respawn time is perfect. It doesn’t need to be changed up.
