Between desync and the already small frame window, it’s almost impossible you’ll clash reliably in a match. I tested with friends whether or not Infinite had lunge block with melee, or if hammer and sword could block each other, and neither exist. You can clash with perfect timing, but you both lose almost all your health, unlike past Halo games. Counter-play sucks for melee weapons in Infinite.
Kill them before they get into grapple distance, and even if they’ve grappled you they can still be killed.
Yeah me using the Sentinel Beam is like watching some little girl twirling ribbon sticks.
We will have to wait for the true king, the OG Shotgun, to return from its slumber. He will awaken with his glorious 8 gauge and blow a hole in these sword wielding tryhards (or any other fool in close range)
Maybe it’s me, but I think using beam on m&k without aim assist making it stick to target is almost impossible. I’ve never killed anyone with it except for finishing off one-shots damaged by someone else…
It is interesting how 343 claimed they spent all these years “balancing” this game. Yet they didn’t count for Sprint or the grapple.
See, the sword worked for Bungie’s Halo’s because you couldn’t just run like a bat out of hell across the entire map, nor did you have a grapple. This also applies to the Hammer.
There should always be some form of counter other than using weapons, especially knowing the melee is broken in this game that it felt at times when I was playing that it’s a flip of a coin whether it’s going to connect or not.

THE THRUSTER PACK. it needs to be default.
The only two counters I know of, because I use them, is TWO eqyipments: Repulsor and Thrusters.
Repulsor, is obvious. Just push the sword lunge away.
Thrusters. Use TOWARD the sword user. There is no collision in this game. You will thrust THROUGH the enemy and avoid the lunge.

Not reliable as you cant find it as often as you did with the shotgun, which had multiple spawns on maps.

Some clowns were arguing with me and saying the shotgun has no point in being in this game even though it was the hard counter to swords and hammers lmao
The Sword isn’t OP.
The problem is that there is now equal counter to the Sword like in the previous games.
It’d be interesting if instead of ‘buckler’ cosmetic they gave us a buckler equipment - a handheld shield we could use like enemies in the campaign can - to crouch behind a shield and shoot an opponent, or to use it in melee to parry blows without getting damage. Or to thrust through a crowded corridor while holding a shield up, pushing enemies away.
I like the idea of a Hardlight Shield 2.0
is it not more that when you master the sword that it can become’s OP.
and thats more with each weapon more if you master it good how to use it that it can become op in any match.
its more you need to practice more and more to master it good and how to counter it more.

Rockets you can counter with a repulser pretty easily, if you time it right
Nah, its not a counter. Sure you can maybe deflect one if youre lucky (not often they shoot it at you) but they can shoot a second rocket before your equipment recharges.
Basically all you can do is hope they waste a shot or takes 2 kill you, thats not a counter, a counter is beating it. Like shoot the sword user, repluse when they lunge then finish them off… cant do that with a rocket, it also has AOE
Repulsing works on rockets, but as Stitch mentions - on one rocket while you can shoot two. It doesn’t work well against hydra either, which on maps with open spaces is pretty much unstoppable because it has tracking. Similar applies to tank shells - you can repulse one, tank reloads much faster than the repulsor.
Also worth noting - rockets and tank shells do AoE in an area large enough, that someone has to shoot a bit around you and your repulsor won’t reach the rocket/shell while the blast still will kill you. Plus timing it is not that easy.
Personally, I think that with uses so limited equipments shouldn’t have so long use cooldowns.
