Sword Gametype

In Halo 4 I would love maybe a free for all gametype using only swords. Hopefully the swords will be like Halo 3 where it actually took skill rather than Reach where both players die or one randomly wins. Maybe even team swords as a double exp weekend? What do you guys think?

I’ve been thinking about this and I think it would be really fun.

I think you should tell me how you consider the Sword in Halo 3 to be more skilful then in Reach.

Yeah, as a double XP weekend as the OP said. It would be bad if it was a permanent playlist in Halo 4.

Sword block. It is random.

> I think you should tell me how you consider the Sword in Halo 3 to be more skilful then in Reach.

The first person to slip up in a Sword clash on Halo 3 dies, in Reach, both people die after three hits.

You can actually keep clashing until someone got the better of you .

And you spelled " skillful " wrong .

…are you serious? Really!?

This forum man, really makes me hate the community sometimes…

This.

Any gameplay that is entirely connection based should be kept at a minimum.

I have no problem with a Double EXP Weekend, as I can actively avoid that.

Bro , we’re reading text here . Coherent sentences , good punctuation , and proper spelling should be exercised .

I’d enjoy some sort of “duel” feature. Not much into quick-time events, but if they do it right…

Also, on the H3>Reach thing, I don’t see any difference. I did like how you could block with any weapon on Reach; gave everyone more of a chance.

Nobody likes a grammar -Yoink!-, man.

Same thoughts.

HAve we seen the sword in H4 yet?

I’d be insanely happy if they removed melee weapons entirely.

BTB swords ftw…

I’ve seen footage of it, it’s definitely back.

I just hope the entire melee and shot system is like Halo 3, not Reach. In Halo Reach, it’s not uncommon for two people to kill each other because the shots take so long to register. That almost never happened in Halo 3. Also in Reach, like OP says, sword fights are dead. In Halo 3, it was a skill test, and you actually had to out-strategize the other player. In Halo Reach, it just ends in a double beatdown. Same with Grifball. Halo 3 Grifball was all about timing, but in Reach, it’s all about random clunky double-beatdowns. That literally didn’t happen in Halo 3, but it happens almost every time in Reach. Not to mention, I constantly find myself getting bulltrues on Sword-users, but still being killed because of the huge delay in shot registration.

If Halo 4’-Yoink!- registration is similar to Reach’s, then CQB will be doomed.

Go look at the War Games trailer. Yes there is a Sword.

:frowning:

Halo 3: Whoever has better ping to host eventually wins a sword duel assuming neither mess up

Reach: Whoever slips up first dies regardless of ping, or after 3 goes at each other in order to prevent silly 45 second sword duels, whichever comes first.

Hm I wonder which one of these is more random.

I can confidently say that H4 will stick with a client-authoritative netcode model similar to Reach and not go backwards to H3 server-authoritive. So sword battles will be closer to reach than H3.

I had countless duels that went on for minutes on Halo 3 in Customs & Matchmaking, it was never so random.

In Reach, sometimes I will trade with someone, sometimes I will die, sometimes the other guy will die.

Reach is the more random.

I think the addition of hard light shield will lead to some rather interesting ‘Sword and Shield’ game types
