i know this game has “reduced aim assisst” but, when i shot at people, i can’t get a lock on to them when they jump. it’s like there is a a force field around their hit box and i trace a circle around their body? this only happens in halo 5 (not trying to make it seem like i am a deadeye as i only average 45-50 percent accuracy with the BR)
but i find it odd that this only happens in halo 5. has anyone else experienced something similar?
Try turning down your sensitivity. It should help you slow down and steady your aim.

i went down from 5, to 2. and while it still happens, it’s nowhere near as crazy as it was.

Glad I could help!
It seems im always messing around with my sensitivity. Every game is different. More so on the Arena playlists.
Zippy.
It seems to happen most when someone thrusts out of your aim, but it’s likely a combination of factors.
Largely the fact that the field of “aim assist” around the enemy player is quickly leaving the field around your crosshair while you’re making significant adjustments to your aim… the base sensitivity takes over again and you’re caught trying to compensate, but the change in sensitivity causes massive over-corrections.
It’s not an issue for me because I play on the highest possible sensitivity settings across all game modes. As long as you can handle it, you can dish out a lot of damage at any range and not break a sweat doing so.

this sounds like exactly what i am experiencing!, thank you for talking the time to explain that!,
looks like boasting left and right is more powerful then i thought it was.

Also happens often when on bad servers aim assist actually tries to pull my aim away from where i see a player.

thank you so much! i thought it was just bad aiming, but if it is happening to others i don’t feel as bad
Raise your inner from 0.
Changing the horizontal to vertical ratio can help as well. But without seeing your exact pov I can’t tell you how to manipulate it.

It’s not ALWAYS the game’s fault but in that very case, I KNOW my stick movement did not follow the arc.
For some reason, the reticle magnetism (that which causes friction + drag when the reticle is red) followed a phantom, which does happen in this game more often than I’d like for being dedicated.

This is good advice.
If you find yourself overshooting a lot or having a lot of server stability issues, changing the inner DZ to 5-10% can help stabilize the experience.
It won’t fix it across the board but it will make the stick inputs more fluid and consistent across varying server/connection stability issues.

thank you both, i have upped my inner to 10, and i am getting much more believable results.
Change the inner deadzone. You seem to have a happy right thumb, so increasing the inner dz with negate most of this happy movements.
The real issue is the aim acceleration. When someone jumps and thrust, and normal person would flick the right thumb stick and adjust for the sudden movement. In Halo 5, you hit the look portion of the aiming g system, which leads to over correction.
This game’s aiming system is just terrible. Really good players can get SEVERELY handicapped by these mechanics.
I love when ppl take -Yoink- in the post game stats… and I’m like if this game functioned the ways it’s supposed to, this would be a completely different story… however, you can’t say that bc most people have no idea how broken the aiming is. They will say you are making excuses… -_-
