Sweaty Lobbies

Is anyone else losing 10 games in a row? Like by wide margins too? (10-20+ kills) i’m not a pro, but i don’t think i’m average either, but i played about 15 games with a friend and only won two games.

the first game i won i joined halfway through and my team was legit. the other game we won we seemed to be pretty evenly matched and we won by maybe 4 or 5 kills.

idk if anyone else is noticing this in their gameplay. if you in my camp pls let me know. and if you’re creaming every team you play pls also comment.

i really don’t like losing this much  it gets old after a while

So i feel the need to add a little bit more after playing some more.

Idk if anyone has noticed but there’s no penalty for leaving games over and over again. So basically, if you or i enter a game where we’re heavily outmatched we can leave. People leaving the game can lead to an unfair advantage for a team. It’s fine i guess and it reminds of MW2 and BO2 when you could leave games with impunity. I honestly like that, especially for casual game modes.

A long time ago in the era of BO2 i remember joining games mid way through and helping my struggling teammates turn the game around. I also remember a lot of inability to deal with getting creamed. Id leave and join matches often enough that I’d usually end up in lobbies that i could enjoy after school and stuff.

It wasn’t like i was winning every game i joined either, but usually i’d keep going until i found a match that felt relatively even. (relative to a match where i get creamed)

Now that Im playing the infinite flight i get those vibes again. There is no way of separating pro players and casual players currently, so i find myself engaging in these old habits. which is fine, until your teammates are the ones leaving… and their spots don’t get filled.

picture a 4v4 slowly losing players until it’s a 2v1 25-15 kills in the match. the score increases marginally, and the game ends by timer. This is the reality of the skill disparity in current halo. (and perhaps other games as well).

Skill based matchmaking, for better or for worse, has allowed the separation of players within a few singular game modes/ playlists. Understandably this keeps the community from splitting up too much… but this is Halo.

This is a massive community, and each corner has its own interests… it’s own skill levels.

i could spend a lot of time arguing how skill based matchmaking is bad for the casual player, which i honestly believe it is.

But harken back to a time when games had a multitude of game modes, and different skill categories as well.

Black Ops 2 is my favorite example because i played that game a lot and it’s forever been one of my favorite experiences in gaming. Mainly for the multiplayer.

The community usually divided itself given what game modes were available. casual players would mainly stick to TDM and Domination, and occasionally switch to hardcore (from core) if they felt like getting a little sweaty. There also existed the league play game modes, which i didn’t play too much, but that was when i wanted to get seriously sweaty about my gaming. (that period didn’t last long). I digress.

Where casual players left a void in game modes like Search and Destroy and, to a lesser degree, Demolition… sweatier players filled that space. The people i knew who played those game modes liked it because it was hard. you had a singular objective and in SnD the margin for error was small.

I hardly played SnD bc i felt far too stressed, having one life per round and all. However i played a lot of demolition when i wanted an objective game mode. Demolition to me was the less sweaty little brother of SnD, and was where i spent time if i needed to complete weapon challenges but also wanted to challenge myself.

(i could go on to talk about party game modes like Gun game, but all i’ll say is they offered a fun break from the norm, while still maintaining an air of skills you needed to win consistently)

Now, in the current gaming atmosphere it seems the sweat is inescapable :frowning: I will sweat sometimes, and i’ve dreamed of going pro, but most of the times i wanna play to have fun and learn to play the ins and outs of the game without worrying about getting 720 noscoped by the all out blitz of TylerDaGod42069xxx who’s been playing nonstop all morning.

i feel MCC has suffered the curse of sweat the worst, and i literally only play grifball and custom games there now.

Anyhow, this has been my rant. i’m tired of having to try so damn hard when all i wanna do is have fun. 343 when the full game comes out, find ways for people to play how they want, when they want:/

You have to keep in mind, pros are playing this flight as well. I am losing a lot as well but i’m sure when launch comes out, they’ll be able to separate social and ranked because right now, it’s both.

You will come across teams that just group up beginning to mid game and they will smack you, however if you come across a BR and some Grenades you could get and instant triple kill in no time. As for getting matched up and losing multiple games in a row, I would say to stop the grind for 10 minutes, get a drink, a breath of fresh air, and just get right back into the fight.

The type of players right now who are playing this flight are dedicated, loyal, and hardcore fans. That’s just how it is. Don’t feel too bad, because the competition right now is fierce and I doubt regular social will be like this, at least I hope. Leave that for ranked. I consider going positive or even good regarding this flight lol.

what do you mean, you don’t just love -blamiting- losing 10 to 50 repeatedly?

I’m looking forward to when there’s a large sample size of new players and matchmaking can actually match make…

not having… really any fun actually, its either 50 - 1 vs bots, or 10 - 50 vs players.

it was funny though, didn’t read my very first game after training mode and was like, “wow these bots are oddly good” turned out to be players, good thing i practiced 1 vs 4 spartans before i went into matchmaking.

I’m hoping big team battle spreads people out enough that even if we get murdered its at least fun, haven’t been spawn killed repeatedly yet though, so i guess we got that going for us.

Yeah , keep in mind only hard core halo nerds are playing the flight. Plus a lot of people are gathering together friends because it’s a special occasion.
There will probably be some more casual player in the actual game, that’s my guess at least

Welcome to cross-play…

Just thought I’d throw it out there, you can’t quit with impunity, I just got banned for doing just that. Luckily for me it didn’t last too long but assume it gets worse if you’re a repeat offender

No i agree these lobbies are super sweaty. On friday my whole play through was good. Teams seemed balanced and skill really shined on either side. I had beast games and close games and games i got clapped. Sunday however has been a disgusting change to nothing but sweaty lobbies. You have to keep in mind a lot of streamers who no life halo games/video games and pros are playing so it’s easy to run into a lot of BS at times. The matchmaking does seem off. I doubt it will be like this on release with a much wider population pool but right now it’s kind of gross.

In social u should stay with all the same players and start a new game after your join in progress

Yeah I am in the same boat, for me personally I have never been a super competitive person when it comes to Halo, somewhere in-between casual and pro (don’t like losing all the time either, I am not a ranked Halo person but I do want to have fun getting kills when I can but the flight has been not very much fun at all on the PvP non-bot slayer this weekend, not going to take it personally), I like having my moments of being on top of the leaderboards, but I am not good enough to be in that club, never have been (going back to Halo 2 on OG Xbox Original same way). Bot Slayer is too easy, they need to up the difficulty of it by a setting or two (not sure if its set on Recruit or Marine, probably should be on ODST at least hopefully for next week for BTB, Spartan might be pushing it a bit).
