Sweat 😨😲

I’ve played halo for 17 years and always believed I was above average in mulitplayer, I mostly play PvE but I also play PvP sometimes, I always had a positive KD and recently played a lot of social pvp in MCC PC, but in halo Infinite… man, where are all these people coming from, it seems like every enemy player has played 2x as much as me and kills me within seconds while I’m lucky if I break their shields.

It feels like there’s something everybody else is doing but me and I keep biting the bullet for it.

Is controller OP or is there some setting that makes it easier to aim?

OR am I just bad at PvP?

I play on PC btw

I have notice this too, 98% of the games I have played has been against enemy players that are OP for some reason. I figured it was cause I was going up against better players but there should be other non pro people in this flight.

I am like you in that I always considered myself pretty much average at Halo, but my experience today has been different. I found that I was murdering people. I have not played in years but I have played thousands of online matches spread over multiple titles. I found I was able to find a controller setup that was close to my old setup and I was able to get back into it quickly. I’m playing with a controller on PC because that’s the only way I know how to play.

I think you are playing against people that are die hard fans of the game, and without an mmr system in place this is going to be rough. I remember when each new Halo game launched there was always an initial period of getting my -Yoink- handed to me until the mmr had enough data to make better matchmaking experiences.

I am having a hard time even wanting to play because of how quickly I get killed. I’ll probably just wait until launch and see if it is better at all. If it isn’t, Battlefield 2042 would probably end up being my go to multiplayer game.

I am a hardcore fan just, not a huge fan of the PvP, I have all avhievements on MMC on PC, but I still can’t get a perfect against other people

Battlefield does look pretty good.

This multiplayer is infuriating to play against other people. It isn’t fun. I hold my own pretty damn well in Halo MCC but I can’t even go positive in Infinite. What is the deal here? It isn’t controls, so stop assuming that. Could it be auto-aim (or lack thereof) on controller? Unlikely, because other players using controller would suck too. But they don’t. I really am not usually a multiplayer person anyways, but this really makes me want to completely forego the multiplayer entirely. If they want to bring in new players, this isn’t the way to do it whatsoever. This is pushing away me, a fan playing since the beginning. It’s too sweaty. Far too sweaty. I think we can blame streaming culture in-part to this, due to the desire to be the ā€œnext big thingā€ and the people streaming needing to be on their A-game 24/7. But then there’s some that just can’t have fun with it and have to make everybody else’s lives in social slayer a living hell. This isn’t fun, 343. I’m not sure what the issue is, but if it really is that everybody I’m up against is a pro, then you better have a DAMN good skill based match making system in store. Otherwise, this isn’t going to be played by many actual fans like I’ve seen repeated countless times in this forum.

I’m an OG player. In my older age I’m average. 1.5 KD maybe. But 3 and 16 matches. While AR clips that don’t drop shields. People double meleeing. Things aren’t right. It also doesn’t feel like dedicated servers either.

There does seem to be something severely off with the ttk/ttd and grenades. Not sure just how many I play with but it does seem like majority of people are on console so I’m wondering if 343 made a bit of a balance mistake… Halo 5 has some EXTREME aim assist for controller and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s playing a massive difference in people appearing better than they actually are. Probably going to tweak it a lot more before release so hopefully they have it set well on or around release!

I’m finding that it’s a mixed bag. Some games I can’t get rolling and others I dominate. Overall been having a good time. I just wish we could dash, I keep hitting the button I have set in Halo 5. Old habits die hard lol

New players are neither going to enjoy playing against bots or tryhards. Matchmaking system needs to be forgiving for low KD players.

Also the way the maps are set up its hard to find good weapons, it used to be two power weapons per map and then a lot of other good ones. But now its just two blue, two red and one power weapon plus a power up. I don’t want to play with the sidekick the whole game if the other team has map control.

I already know plenty of people who love to go against bots that are casuals. They get stressed playing against an actual team and get anxiety when not performing well. It has a place so I wouldn’t dismiss it.

Some games can get insanely sweaty. Most of the are when you go against a full team however and they have solid rotations. Last night everything finally clicked for me and I was able to tie my movement with my shots. Once you get that fluid motion going you’ll see dramatic improvement.

I highly recommend people do 1v2s in training mode with spartan bots. It adds the stress and teaches you how to use the movement more in the fights. Also you can get used to hitting 7 shot kills with the movement under the 1v2 pressure.

Everybody in the flight had to apply to be there so you can be sure that most of the players live and breath Halo.

So you’re not bad it’s just that there’s a higher concentration of high level players!

Based on experience and everything I’ve been reading, there are plenty of controller players who are also struggling. Some also claim m+kb has problems. I’ve tried some of the various things with settings that others have said makes it better, and it does seem to help - but still doesn’t feel right. Frustrating.

Good luck to 343 trying to figure this out.

While they’re perfect for training mode, I don’t think they’re good for matchmaking atm. There’s very little challenges that can accomplished with the bots right now and to an experienced player, bots won’t offer much struggle. Every time I played a bot game we would always crush the bots going like 50-5 or something like that. I don’t know how many of these types of players are going to stay after launch if it stays like that.

I was never amazing at PvP but think I’m a little bit worse at Halo Infinite than past Halo games.

I put it down to the harder aiming (which I actually like) and I also assume I’m playing with KBM players as well? Sometimes people are landing shots on me half way across the map with the AR or Sidekick so I just assumed these players are using a mouse to be that accurate from that distance.

KBM and Controller players definitely need to be kept separate in the final game - especially for anything ranked.

I did poorly in the beginning, but I found that adjusting my FOV drastically approved my accuracy and performance overall.

So I suggest looking into that.

Settings played a big part for me. What was working setting wise for my team mates did not work for me. I had to play a match against people and then adjust FOV, Sensitivity, and acceleration for about an hour to get it where I liked it. After that I did pretty good. Things like the melee, reload, melee will get addressed. In the long run it will be whether you play ranked or social on how many people you play will be near your skill.

It won’t offer much to veteran players because it wasn’t designed for us. It’s for people to play at a super casual level and to practice. After launch only people who need to play it will and that will provide an excellent alternative. Training Mode however allows us veteran to sharpen our reaction times and shots under pressure.

I will gladly admit to being a dead-even Halo 5 player. My typical matches in Big Team Battles would be about 13-8. I regularly am getting absolutely DESTROYED WRECKED OBLITERATED 4-10 in Infinite. I don’t understand how so many people have impeccable aim across the map, firing pistols so much faster than I ever saw in Halo 5, smackdowns sometimes dropping shields, power weapons being essentially worthless, etc. There were many great things but MAN ALIVE I was so demoralized.
