SWAT and Snipers are two playlists that require the same skill - Headshots and rapid (paced) fire.
Both SWAT and Snipers suffer from a lack of map rotation (how many times have you had to suffer through 3-4 games in a row on Sword Base in SWAT and Hemorrhage in Snipers?).
Both can’t have Community maps added because of reluctance to make Maximum Local Players = 2.
So why not merge the two lists into one? 1) it won’t cannibalize the playlists - together both can have 10,000 people playing at a time
2) By making it a two-player local playlist, community maps can be added
3) By making it DLC-Required, those of us who PAID FOR BOTH MAP PACKS AND CEA can actually get to play the maps we spent $80 on in the last year in playlists we ACTUALLY play.
Or make them Arena playlists with DLC required, and put the gametypes in Team Slayer for people who want to play Social Snipers and/or Social SWAT with guests.

If you don’t understand why merging two weapon dedicated (Sniper Rifle and DMR) playlists is a bad pidea then I don’t think I can explain it to you.
But requiring DLC in more playlists wouldn’t be a bad thing because of all the horrible maps that are currently in playlists. There’s also enough “social” style playlists to satisfy players who don’t want to buy the maps.
SWAT and sniper could not be more different, and if you think they’re similar games that require the same skill set, you don’t spend enough time playing either.

That’s an answer people give when they don’t have a reason to object to something they object to. So here’s my rationale:
SWAT and snipers have two strategies in common: camping and precision. For most people, they will hide out in EITHER playlist to obtain best position and get head shots. Because both weapons are precision weapons, accuracy with headshot aiming is critical, since missing exposes one’s position. For this type of player (who are in the majority - I say that because these two lists are what I spend most time in reach in when not playing grifball), the games are complimentary.
For you run-and-gun players, the same still applies - you’re no scoping with snipers and spamming (oops…pacing shots. My bad) triggers with DMRs, so nothing would change for you in the way of strategy.
**Why combine?**Snipers population is normally no more than 3000-4000 people on a good day, while SWAT hovers between 4000-7000. Combining the lists boost player totals and reduces cannibalization of the player population (and frees a slot for another gametype to experiment with).
Why make it DLC required? It gives the new playlists more map variety and makes it to where those of us who SPEND money supporting Reach get a return on our investment in CEA, Noble and Defiant.

Listen bud, I’m all for making SWAT and Snipes DLC required but suggesting that we combine them shows your lack of understanding in regards to both playlists. People that play Snipes want to use the Sniper Rifle. The gameplay is slower and more tactical.
SWAT is fast paced, small map oriented, closer quarter battles. The percentage of unscoped kills in SWAT is the majority while the percentage of unscoped kills in Snipes is the minority.
Bottom line is that each playlist was designed around a different weapon. You may as well combine Grifball and MLG if you combine SWAT and Snipes.

Enlighten me. You haven’t so far.
> People that play Snipes want to use the Sniper Rifle. The gameplay is slower and more tactical.
Let me read into this: you’re thinking I want sniper rifles in SWAT matches. No, my proposal is to have Sniper game types and SWAT game types in the same hopper. 5 people vote for SWAT, that’s the game; 5 vote for Snipers, that’s the game.
> SWAT is fast paced, small map oriented, closer quarter battles. The percentage of unscoped kills in SWAT is the majority while the percentage of unscoped kills in Snipes is the minority.
Play Snipers on Reflection or any other small map - not necessarily true. Huge hole in your argument there. Likewise, play SWAT on a large map.
> Bottom line is that each playlist was designed around a different weapon. You may as well combine Grifball and MLG if you combine SWAT and Snipes.
Apples and Oranges - the Grifball and MLG example.
I’d rather have the two stay separate not together. They obviously take a huge amount of skill so they should use the Arena ranking system. As for DLC required, it varies. There are some maps in all the map packs that work for one, the other, or both (Penace for SWAT, Breakpoint for Snipers). I do not think that they should be all DLC required (which is like $25) but a combination would be nice.

Snipes gets voted for and ill quit every time, i don’t care about the probation. I have CoD 4, Halo 3, GoW 3, and Assassin’s Creed. why be forced into a gametype i absolutely hate???
P.S. this is the mindset of most players, combine 2 different playstyles and get a whole bunch of quiters.
Snipers isn’t supposed to play like SWAT. Combining the two would be like putting Infection and Grifball together in the same playlist.
If you really want to have SWAT in Snipers by running around small-mid sized maps and trying to quick scope and no scope people then I suggest asking for a SWAT Snipers gametype just for that.

complimentary? really? and you see a lot of campers in your SWAT games? odd. in mine, everyone is almost always moving around constantly. i don’t buy that both the game types lend themselves to the same style of play at ALL. quite the opposite in fact.

actually, i tend to believe that combining the lists would decrease the population of the list in general. people who want to play Snipers, pick Team Snipers; people who want to play SWAT, pick SWAT. if you have to enter a crapshoot to get the gametype you want with two drastically different styles of play, one of two things are going to happen.
people will stop playing so they aren’t subjected to the other
