I didn’t get my Xbox until Reach came out but from what I understand Shutout was a map from Halo 2 and 3. It’s on the SWAT playlist but for me it’s really nothing more than standing on one of the towers and picking off people with the DMR. Pretty easy but lame as well. Was it somehow different in Halo 2 or 3?
pretty sure everyone moved around in h2’s lockout. some camp where the shotgun spawned. i never played halo 3’s version so idk about that.
That’s pretty much how it’s always been in SWAT. It’s no different on any other map with long sight lines. It’s also why the DMR sucks on Shutout. It just turns into tower mini sniping.
You’re doing it wrong. Figure out the map a little bit and you’ll want to move around. Even in SWAT, Lockout was a great map. I haven’t played it in Halo 4 yet but I’m sure the DMR ruins it. YES, the main focus is to control the towers but it’s not just that easy.
In Halo 2, there where a lot of different gametypes on Lockout (Now Shutout). It was a great map for 4 v 4 team slayer. Personally, I wish this map would make an introduction in Oddball, Regicide and Team Slayer.
You can play any way you want. If you want to move around, then move around. If you want to stay in a base and pick people off, do that then. The majority of people in mm are so bad it doesn’t make a difference.

I played with a friend who played this map variant in Halo 2 and 3. Don’t remember the details but he said in Halo 4 they made changes that allow you to scope across the towers and the hallways. He also hates the Halo 4 version. In my last game I just stood on one tower and racked up the kills with the DMR for cross-mapping and the pistol for ramps. Great for KD boosting but lame for competitive play.
The more I play this in SWAT the less I like it. Don’t know the callouts but my team just took the two towers and killed players coming out of the green room building. This is easily my least favorite map for SWAT b/c of it’s poor design. I’d even take Harvest over it.

heres your problem.
of course it sucks now when your using a gun that shoots itself.
I HATEthis map…it is the slowest loading map! My fiance and I play together and we are both pretty decent players but damn we can’t even turn smoothly. Drives me CRAZY…I wish you could avoid maps like you can players!

It would be nice if the game recognized when you are playing split screen and kept you away from forge maps.

It’s forge maps in general that do this, not just Shutout. This is why a legitmate Lockout remake needs to happen. Either that or Forge needs to be better.

The problem is that half of Lockouts jumps did not transition over into Shutout, so one can’t properly move around the map.
It was also designed for BR gameplay as opposed to DMR, and the spawns do not work properly on shutout (If I am standing BR3 and my team is at S2, the enemy will almost always spawn Blue 1 or Sniper Elbow.) so it’s incredibly easy to spawnkill.

I agree, but it’s never going to happen. Even if it did, it would never play the same because of Armor Abilities and default sprint. Not to mention the shutout version still does not have the jump ups that lockout had (IE, Blue elbow to S2, or pretty much any S1-S2 styled jump.)
A map like Lockout doesn’t work with AA or sprint. Playing shutout with jetpackers is about as much fun as taking a bath in tobasco sauce.
