Look. I love competitive halo and always will. One thing about SWAT is that it can get very competitive. Most people call this mode “not real halo.” Which is understandable with the one head shot kill. Look it is very fun and the unpredictable can happen. Being weaker and more vulnerable makes you rethink other strategies you would use in other MLG/HCS modes. I think this game mode could definitely make you better at any mode in Halo.
All I play is SWAT.
The biggest thing it doesn’t teach you is how to track your target for many shots in a row, since it’s one shot.
SWATnums is a garbage game mode and always will be due to RNG in the magnum’s shots. Hopefully with the ODST drop they will replace the magnum with the ODST magnum, since they are bringing the ODST SMG and Magnum to H3 MP.
But by far the biggest issue with SWAT is the lack of a competitive playlist. I regularly go +12 to +20 with 23 - 28 kills and lose due to poor teammates. It really needs a ranked playlist.
I love SWAT. It is the only game mode I play, aside from the occasional Firefight. Really keeps you on your toes.

It would be so easy to use to rank up.
I also love SWAT, back in the OG days of Halo Reach it was pretty much the only matchmaking gamemode I played regularly.
I’m pretty sure SWAT has always been a fan favorite so I don’t know what you mean by “underrated”.
Love SWAT as well, sucks though that you can’t play it on MCC PC competitive, i’d love that!
I also love SWAT.
You sure? Last I checked people couldn’t shut up about SWAT. Trying to play multiplayer with an LFG group pretty much garuntees someone is going to mention SWAT.
Personally I hate it. One shot kills are not really enjoyable and having the DMR as standard is absurd.
Its definitely not an underrated gamemode when everyone and their grandma wants to play it.

I played SWAT exclusively in Reach when i was first released and yeah, it was a good way to rank up, but the matches are fast pace and there’s not much downtime in between each game, thats why i really like it. But halo 4 SWAT wasn’t as good, and I play halo 5 SWAT until it ranks me and then i know I have to stop, because up untill that moment the teams are even and as soon as you get ranked, I will continually be thrown into games with terrible teammates where the enemy team are all pros… as for MCC i play SWAT a little bit in the different halo’s but again I mostly play Reach SWAT bc its just my favorite. I hope in Halo Infinite they have SWAT more like it was in Halo Reach and I hope they fix the skill match making matching issues.
And yes I would love to play SWAT with the ODSTs or at least with the pistol (ODST) addition.

I agree with everything except this sentence. In swat I’m either always holding forward or sitting back and playing passive. I only do the later when I am going for a perfection. Swat is the game mode that requires the least amount of thinking for me, I just run in the middle of the map must of the time. Swat is so much easier compared to every other game mode, it hasn’t helped me improve at all except getting headshots more often.

Yes it doesn’t require much thinking.

underrated as in, it should be in ranked and MCC competitive and such.
Swat teaches you the importance of not having a radar and keeping track of a person’s head. So many people are reliant on the radar that they fold without it.

True, SWAT is honestly a good mode to train both tracking and flicking skills in the right circumstances i feel.

Also gives you more confidence when your shield is popped first in matchmaking in Team Slayer. So many times, my shield was dropped especially in Halo 5 but the headshot and the movement made me get a Reversal.

Thinking yes, but also I think it would because it rethinks the way you play the game.
People should be more open minded to comp settings on game modes like SWAT, BTB, Snipers, etc.
