From my experience the swapping system is complete garbage and does not seem to what it should be doing.
If you have for example a challenge specifc for a playlist that you dont want to play, for example free for all, ranked… then swapping doesnt help you at all. Right now it seems to just swap the type of challenge you have to do in this specific playlist. Meaning you cant swap playlist.
For example if you have “play 4 ranked matches” all you seem to get is challenges in ranked. (“win one ctf in ranked”) This seems to me kind of stupid because there are people who despise certain gametypes. Swapping doesnt seem to be an answer to that as far as my experience goes.
It appears that the swapping system is tied to a certain element of the challenge you are swapping.
E.G you swap a “Play 4 ranked matches” for a “Kill 10 Spartans in Ranked PvP”
Personally I don’t see anything wrong with that, it exposes people to different aspects of the game.
The ranked specific ones only swap for other rank specific ones. This was said in the update blog, but should have been in-game as well. I think it is only this week though.
Well there are people who despise certain game types for example SWAT. Why do you have different playlists if you are forced to play all playlists.?Then there is no real difference between just having one playlist where you are forced to play everything. Seems counter-intuitive to me.
I believe they have mentioned several time that they are looking at different ways at earning XP and an overall challenge overhaul. For now it is what it is and we will have to get on with it (some begrudgingly)
Ultimately if you don’t complete a challenge, you’re only missing out on some in-game pixels. Not a big loss in my opinion.
Wasted like 7 challenge swaps to find this the hard way

Understandable, because if you read something like swap, people might think you can actually swap stuff, but no, you cant swap, just a little part. Great design, must have been master mind behind that.
