Is a link to a simple survey about the opinions of the community- IE this is simply opinions, not a quiz- on various factions and characters in the Halo lore, post-2553. There shouldn’t be any major spoilers and all questions are multiple choice/ choosing from a list so it shouldn’t take long. This is purely for my own interest, and isn’t official. Agreed. Now that the UNSC can safely augment adults, the distinction between “Spartans” and other soldiers should start fading into obsolescence. Slowly, of course, as the UNSC doesn’t have the resources to give those augs to everybody (in fact the pace of the S-IV program as presented already stretches credibility as far as the necessary science, resources and budgets are concerned). Worse, segregating the Spartans into their own dedicated branch engenders an unhealthy split between them and “those lowly baselines” in all the other branches. Not to mention that adding an all-new branch means a lot more uselessly redundant bureaucracy, as if that’s what the UNSC needed.
Nice, but some questions were limiting. Such as the janus key, I wanted Halsey alone to get it and then use it for humanity (as Librarian says), but there is only the option Jul+Halsey or UNSC. Chose UNSC btw.
Civil war with ONI against UNSC won’t happen. And in case I support the researchers and scientists brutally killed by ignorant soldiers. Again won’t happen.
Should the augmentations be taken by every soldier? Well, maybe as a purist of the IIs I should have chosen “spartans have to remain an elite branch”, but don’t forget that Halsey herself saw augmentations as the future of mankind…
Another curious topic is UNSC efforts and resources, is there someone that like me believes that before allying with genocidal -Yoinks!- we should reunite colonies? And who cares if they don’t pay UEG much taxes, we need to be united as a species. I believe that if we can make an alliance with brutes we can make it with colonists of every kind.
Spartans have to go to NAVSPECWEP/WAR, then if a branch needs them they simply contact their command and ask for available Spartans. But given the low quality of S-IV, not sure what’s better. For sure the next spartan program’s super-soldiers should not fall under the spartan branch.
