But seriously, with primary weapons getting a boost, the best solution is to give vehicles like the Warthog and Mongoose some serious increased health. This would also help solve the fact that EVERY BTB player spawns with stickies and a plasma pistol. 1 sticky can occasional kill a Warthog and 2 results in death or a near-death vehicle. Not to mention, the DMR has hitscan and giving bullet damage to vehicles is a viable strategy in Halo 4.
How often do Mongooses get to capture the flag in Halo 4? Rarely. The flag carrier and driver are way too easy to kill. Halo 3 had a good balance of Warthog vs. player interaction and the Mongoose was fun and useful. The weapon accuracy in Halo 4, low health of vehicles, and damage to players in vehicles has led to a large disparity in vehicle viability.
I know 343i has discussed giving vehicle gunners a damage boost (see 4.17 bulletin), but I think a moderate to massive health boost is the real solution. Enough making vehicles under-powered. Getting into vehicles and driving around with your friends is awesome and is just classic Halo.
Seriously, seriously – nuff said.
That makes sense stronger weapons need stronger vehicle. I support this
The Vehicle Health in Halo 4 needs to be buffed, I agree with this. It took two Tank shots to bring down a Halo 3 Banshee. The Vehicle Health should be appropriate to a player with overshields, that way combined teamfire, can take vehicles down along with an occasional Spartan Laser or Rocket Launcher. Hell one rocket in Halo 3 couldn’t even take down a damn tank.

Exactly.
On Standoff in Halo 3, the spartan laser was considered a point of control because the Warthog could really do some damage. You knew if your team had it or not. Now, Spartan Lasers and Rockets rain down from the sky in front of players and Warthogs often get immediately slaughtered. Some maps are better than others, but usually vehicles get decimated.
Sure, but I think the main problem is still plasma pistols/grenades.
Power weapons popping up more often certainly doesn’t help, but buffing vehicles in general to compensate for a problem that’s mostly caused by something that everybody can spawn with is like what they’re doing with the weapon tuning update: Changing everything around to accommodate for one problem instead of just fixing the actual problem.
I completely agree. Unfortunately, it seems weapon drops and spawning with any weapon your heart desires is what Halo 4 is built around. I would definitely prefer to revert back to weapons on map and much more limited weapon spawning.
If we assume that 343i isn’t even considering reverting to these more classical settings, then a significant armor/health vehicle increase would play out best. Perhaps Warthogs even taking as much as 4-5 plasma grenades before they explode. I haven’t thought of exactly the magnitude of increase, but a doubling of health is definitely not out of the question.
In my opinion, the stronger the vehicle, the less damage it should take, and vise versa.
how do you define “stronger”?
i agree with most thing said in this thread, i belive it would go a long way to help if they let the Wheel-man perk stack.
> In my opinion, the stronger the vehicle, the less damage it should take, and vise versa.
Yes. I never get into vehicles anymore.
