Would it be a good idea to have some kind of modding kit (i.e. Skyrim Creation Kit) and having the ability to download them via some kind of store (i.e. Forge Maps or Skyrim Creation Kit) and being able to rate, favorite, comment, download etc. etc. But have community-made maps be only playable offline so 343 can still profit from DLC? There were some AMAZING mods for Reach and unfortunately were only available to those without a connection to Xbox Live and willing to risk modding their Xbox for some cool mods.
Some great examples:

I don’t know whether we can discuss the support of a mod kit for their community, but those are awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Linking to videos of mods aren’t allowed, mate, unless they are Halo Custom Edition mods.
As for my input on the actual topic, I don’t expect any official modding support. Not from Microsoft.
Seriously? So a serious thread with a legitimate inquiry gets ignored yet a troll thread with a troll question, a troll avatar, and placed in the wrong section of the forum gets instafilled with hundreds of replies?

1. I don’t see anyone ignoring you, mate. I was actually planning on editing my own post with links to Custom Edition mods (since those are allowed) as a show of agreement. I can understand the frustration that comes from not receiving all that many replies, though.
2. If you see a thread that you feel is against the rules, then report it and do not engage the user. Unfortunately but understandably, human nature means that people (myself included, tbh) often have trouble with the second part.

Sorry about that, silly me. For some reason your post wasn’t showing up when I refreshed the page but as soon as I posted it was there, I do apologize.

It’s cool.
I don’t have time right now, but I’ll check back tomorrow and post some HCE video links. Custom Edition is a decade old, but the modding community has produced a lot of impressive stuff for it in the last seven years.
The fact that 343 is a branch off of Microsoft and their game is for xbox, the answer is no. But hopefully forge will be good enough for the Modding community I guedd
Xbox is getting lame. Thanks for this thread.
Of course none of this could happen in MM. Our best chance of getting any of these cool goodies (Love the bulldog motorcycle BTW) is to ask 343 if they can put them in Halo 4.
It was harder to find stuff than I expected, but a few highlights in Custom Edition modding include Firefight, a Metroid conversion mod, an in-game AI spawning menu, and a Search and Destroy gametype. These are things that were created entirely from scratch by the Custom Edition community, often without sufficient documentation or an official help source.
I don’t expect Microsoft to permit modding on any future Halo game – and certainly not a Halo game on an Xbox console – but if they did, this is the kind of stuff that could be possible.
