You know that none of the moderation team here get paid, right? Like we all volunteer and most of us have been on Discord since it launched
Anyways, so long and thanks for all the fish!
Wow, thatās tough to hear if not inevitable. Halo Waypoint has brought me many, many joyous experiences within the .net/waypoint space and always made the Halo community feel that extra bit special. Iāll certainly miss it, I hope the community manages to find a new space to truly thrive.
Bungie.net/Halo Waypoint were staples of my childhood and formative years. Iāll miss it.
GGs. Rarely ever used the forums but I remember going through them a lot during halo 3/halo reach. o7
Itās very unfortunate that WP forums is sunsetting. As mentioned above, the forums have dwindled for some time, including the last several months. Itās a real shame that some things have come to an end.
I wish things could have done more for Waypoint, that could have made it better like updates to improve the forums, help easy to navigate and easier UI and upgrade the forums or an option to revert it back how it was before late 2021. As mentioned, somethings donāt go as planned.
I read the forums for the last 10 years and there has been a lot of good discussions and helpful information. It will be sad that all forum topics and discussions will be gone.
To end this on positive note. It has been a pleasure for being on Waypoint and reading a lot on information, feedback and more extensive on Halo lore and lots of memories. Maybe one day Waypoint forums might return in some form or a spiritual successor to it might come.
Anyway, thanks for memories, Waypoint! And see you on the battlefield Spartans.

you really think that social media like facebook there going to listing to the feedback from us about the game sadly there have not done that with the forum also to care about the feedback from the players.
see how crap halo infinite has become tells you all much.
its not only the feedback but also the a lot off other things that are gone now.
what you think about the problems if somebody have in the game or so and other players maybe have then also then the forum is a good place to check it if you are not the only one that has it.
what you think about the communety the friendshap and rively there is between some players.
what there are doing is compleet wrong and is following trents again.
Really really like this forum and Iām so sad that it will be closed. Thank you, halo Waypoint! You has gone before another bright age, and halo?
āDie? Didnāt you know? Halo never die.ā
Bummer! You gotta do what youāve gotta do.
Well this is sad. This has been the best place to discuss Halo for me. But it is not that surprising they are shutting it down. I think it drove away a lot of people after they changed everything. Not to mention it seems most at 343 ignore the āofficial place for Haloā because they seem to post stuff other places like Twitter before posting here (or not even posting here). Shutting down waypoint maybe the first real sign the Halo series is done. They maybe getting to a support for the games until they can turn everything off. Taking Halo to "live service* and slip space engine being a pretty terrible one just may have finished off what was an awesome franchise. Wish I could get into another franchise like I did Halo but this maybe the end of an era. Halo has been with me since 2003⦠But sadly all good things must come to an end.
Thatās just disappointing
Iām not interested in joining a Discord server that has been documented as a problematic place to be
This isnāt the first time 343 have cut a line of communication with the community, this stings.
I stopped using Waypoint literally because the new UI sucks.
Yea, thatās a common thing Iāve seen everyone say who stopped using the Waypoint forums. The new UI they made for it along with Infinite just sucks.
Even trying to view recent news regarding Halo on waypoint just sucks to. A lot of it sucks. Even viewing your service records suck now cause you gotta jump through so many hoops just to get to what you want to see.
So yea, itās not a shock to me at all that people largely stopped using the forums & probably most of the Waypoint website in general, itās just such a terrible experience, and as usual instead of 343i trying to fix the mess they made itās just getting shut down. I wouldnāt be surprised if other sections of Waypoint started getting shut down to ngl.
This is really disappointing. The forums have been the only social platform where there is any permanence to the discussions. You cannot have an actual conversation on any of the other platforms you refer to.
Twitter is intellectually void and completely temporary. You will never find meaningful discussions there.
Twitch, likewise, the comments just keep scrolling and there is no actual conversation.
Discord. Iām too old, I donāt even know what it is really.
Instagram. Similar to Twitter, all conversation is temporary, and ends when a new picture is posted. It is not a platform that encourages genuine dialogue.
Facebook. Is dying.
TikTok. Twitter for kids.
None of the above offer anything in terms of genuine debate. On the forums you can actually see what the clearest feedback is, because the posts get a lot of activity and responses. And people here tend to actually explain why they hold the opinions they do, which is much more valuable than simply a 10 word Twitter post.
I worry for the future of the franchise if the feedback being focussed on is Twitter abuse and TikTok. Maybe Iām just too old, but I think my engagement with the community will probably end after this. I go on twitch every now and then but itās all just meaningless messages in the chat. Iāll have good memories of bungie.net and waypoint forums, but if it is ending then so be it.
I want to preface this by saying I have no malicious intent and I fully understand why you are sunsetting the forums after so many years. But I have to ask, surely you are aware of the feedback toward your Discord server. Anytime itās mentioned on social media a wave of criticism flows in regarding poor moderation and trigger happy bans for relatively small offenses. Itās been a while since Iāve joined your community server because of these problems, your moderation staff sometimes make the place seem very unwelcoming.
There will always be people who take things too far and I expect a portion of people who complain about being banned are removed justifiably, but unlike the forum here once youāre banned from a server, youāre banned for good unless you use a VPN workaround. At least if someone is banned from the forum they can still read. Iām concerned that trigger happy bans could result in community members being removed from official circles that they havenāt really caused significant harm in.
I donāt expect much will change but I do think itās telling that many online voice their concerns and frustrations over your discord server being the way it is and after witnessing some of it myself Iām very sure itās at least somewhat accurate. Regardless I wish the best for your team.
Damn. Halo really is slowly dying huh? What a waste.
If this is going to be my final comment, at least Iāll leave my opinion written for posterity.
This is undoubtedly another one of the bad decisions that 343i has made over the past decade. Killing the official main hub of the community in favor of using the Discord server is another stupid decision that goes against the community.
For years, decades, Iāve been on this forum, from the old Bungie era to the current one with 343i, and I can assure you that during this whole time the forums have gone through ups and downs, moments of very high activity, moments of stability, and moments of low activity, and never, ever would anyone have suggested closing the forums during the previous moments of low activity, especially during the worst moment of Halo 5. Because until then, it was understood that this site is a vital place for the Halo community. Itās OUR place, our home, our forum. Itās the HALO forum of its community. And we didnāt need to go to other sites to find our community.
I have read all the reasons given for the closure, and I am totally against each and every one of them. You are not right, the only fault here is how YOU have been running the forum all this time, each one of your decisions, be it with the video games, be it with the forum, be it whatever, is what has led us to this low point now. Only you are to blame.
But even so, I swear that I would support you in whatever you decided to do if it werenāt for the fact that I believe there is no reason whatsoever to close the forums. You have the budget and the minimum necessary staff to be able to maintain this site without any problem. But for some time now, whenever something is bothering you, you just remove it. How do you even expect to have a united community if you donāt even do everything possible to maintain a simple forum that neither bothers nor is an expense at all?
I⦠this is horrible, these past few months Iāve done nothing but see how each and every one of the reasons why Iām in a franchise like Halo is being abandoned. The entire campaign team laid off, no plans for story advancing DLCs, no PVE events, no social aspect, and now youāre taking away our forum. Do you really expect to maintain a lively community based solely on PVP and competitive play?
I sincerely hope you will reconsider. This is a mistake. I feel very sad, itās like seeing an old home being torn down. An entire era coming to an end just like that.
You have never understood the spirit of Halo, and you never will.
Welp. Iāve been here from Reach to H5, then lurked post H5. Guess this is it then. Peace, Everyone. -āLast One Out, Get The Lights.ā
I noticed the forums had got quieter, but didnāt expect this to occur this soon. Also odd timing given Season 3 comes out shortly, which will most likely increase activity.
Oh well, no more checking and reading daily trying to get forum badges.
End of an era and another milestone.
