This is sad to see. I really disliked the changes to waypoint around Infinites release so I haven’t posted much since then, but I have spent a significant chunk of time on waypoint prior to that. I hate to see it go all together. Instead of removing waypoint, it would be nice if improvements were made to actually make people want to use it. Halo was once Microsoft’s flagship series. If it can no longer hold a population in its dedicated forums, then this is truly a sad day for Halo fans

Farewell Waypoint Forums!!!
You guys were a huge bit of my life, all the way from spectating about Halo 4, to a good dozen or so E3s, weird role-play adventures, Friday Fun Captions, thousands of conversations and absurd fan-theories!!!
Its been fun, I’ll catch you Spartans in the arena!
I believe this is an extremely poor decision, but, 343 it is yours to make. Just remember if your games start suffering because you aren’t getting enough feedback, you chose this path.

Unfortunately, today’s change to how the Discord server presents areas of discussion is a step back.
Headings for specific games have all been removed except for Infinite.
I would have hoped that if Discord was moving to a Forum system, that there would have at least remained headers for:
Infinite
MCC
Halo 5
Halo Wars
Legacy/Other Halo
As it stands, we only got:
Infinite
Halo
That’s it - just 2. People will just be posting about MCC and other titles in the regular channels like ‘general’ or ‘halo-discussion’ and the topics won’t be streamlined anymore.
I really hope the team revisits that change to Discord to actually serve as a suitable replacement for these Waypoint forums. Because, as today’s change to Discord stands - it’s NOT.
Looking forward to a hopefully brighter future.

Let’s be honest, they combined them to make it appear more active. Most of the channel is just regulars, which are mostly nice people, but still…
I have created a Halo Veterans club on Xbox and cordially invite any and all Halo Waypoint members to join, it will have Spartan Buck as the Emblem. It has been an honor and a privilege to share memories with this ever growing and amazing community, I would also like to make this Club as a place for all members to connect and share anything and everything related to Halo.
I want to add this dreadful feeling that no one has actually read ske7ch’s message; the rest of the forums is continuing in ad nausem almost NPC/bot like posting the same topics week after week. While this decision is set in stone already I think more topics should be made bringing attention to this as the days past nearing the end.

A terrible decision. Some of us don’t like to use Discord as discussion rarely holds any value compared to the sorts of things talked about on forums. Losing the forums is going to fracture the community massively. At the very least the forums could (or should) be open sourced for someone else to pick up. This is a huge mistake and another one of 343i’s terrible decisions.

I know that 343 might not be interested in open sourcing but if its guided by someone from the community team and turned into a personal project by @snickerdoodle it sounds very promising to avoid an end. I think support can be garnered for Waypoint to stay up if it is downsized to be more cost effective?
It would be up to the community who we all really need to show more love and support to this same community team. Of course I don’t know what I’m talking about though, if its from Ske7ch its likely the decision didn’t come easy and Waypoint was already on the chopping block months ago.
Is anybody surprised, really?

Ultimately, I don’t think Microsoft / 343 would want to hand over the source code and data of the forum over to anyone. I feel like the only solution (for me) is to continue with my plan to create my own Halo forum.

Please reconsider shutting down forums. Let us voice our concerns. Discord is not the best option to do so.

We should get a send off video, but maybe not on TikTok that audience probably has never heard of a forum outside of College boards.

I am a little sad to see this but with how little I visit this forum I understand.
Halowaypoint will always be remembered through the sites and friends that enjoyed it and I am okay with that.
For anyone looking for the best forums right now I highly recommend https://lysithea.ai - some things just cannot be communicated in any other format
