HA! 23:20!
Sundance? … Whoever is talking, they are right, it stinks and i am very nervous for halo 4.
“Reach has underperformed … really underperformed.” 24:25
Hopefully, 343 is committed to the competitive gaming aspect of Halo, which has been huge, and has been, uh … a halo for the game. You don’t have to compete professionally, or even in online tournaments, to hear about the enthusiasm of Halo from these gamers. It’s always been a good bonus, at least, for everyone to see how Halo is played competitively. It shows that the franchise is multi-faceted.
A great game can be a great competitive game at the same time. It doesn’t have to be an either-or. If 343 is building Halo 4 to be a flagship title for a competitive league like MLG, so much the better. Sundance alludes to the need for support for his league in Halo 4. It seems a foregone conclusion that Reach will not be the flagship shooter title next season at MLG. Puckett, the voice of Halo commentating, moved over to Starcraft, apparently. The energy for Reach is dulled, and unfortunately, there is no true CEA mulitplayer, which could have reenergized Halo for this next year … so all eyes are on Halo 4, as to whether Halo will continue to represent in the competitive gaming arena.
He didn’t sound like he was bashing Reach that you’re thinking and hoping he’s saying. It seems more like they’re saying that people are tired of Halo and moved on to something with even shorter killtimes. Even CoD is getting tired responses in recent years due to it’s yearly releases.
343i will do a good job. its their first game so they’re not going to mess it up. are they?
Who?
Sundance is practically the creator of Major League Gaming. His opinions indeed matters, as he knows Halo.

That’s not what he said. He was bashing Reach.
People weren’t tired of Halo until a bad Halo game was released. If you follow MLG at all, you know that. If you watched the national championships last weekend, you would have seen the small turnout over a $100,000 prize. Reach is to blame, and everyone knows.

The developers of Halo know Halo.
I sure hope 343i is taking the competitive side of Halo 4 VERY seriously. It will fail just like Reach did. Why change something that does not need to be changed?

What!? NO!! The developers don’t know their own franchise!! Obviously only the fans know their franchise!! Just look at how different the Reach campaign was from a book they read years ago, it’s different because Bungie doesn’t know canon!!

the players of halo know halo.

Look what Bungie did with Reach…Look how that’s going now with MLG…Halo was the premiere tittle for MLG ever since it’s founding. Not anymore.

Halo: Reach’s canon works fine with The Fall of Reach’s canon.

Not only that but Karen Traviss spoke to an audience in reply to my question that it is always common for a story to go off in a different change or tangent. Look at all the re-imaginings of the Marvel Comics such as Spiderman or the Hulk.
The Halo Story is far too intricate and detailed with often leads to large online arguments. She says to just ignore them as they aren’t a key audience in developing a game.

Sundance DiGiovanni is one of the founders of MLG.
SunDance knows something is wrong with Halo and that it needs to be fixed before a large part of his company is cut off.
I would think that Reach underperforming can be attributed to the game being lackluster from a competitive standpoint and the fact that Starcraft is so much bigger and arguably better.
Still though, it’s funny how Sundance’s higher-ups insisted on using bloom for the Providence event. For a company built on competitive gaming, it seems strange to forsake more competitive settings just for the sake of consistency. Why not rename themselves to Major League Coin Toss?
I agree that Reach “stinks.” That’s being nice about it too. I could say worse. Anyway, I’d like to say that 343 Rules…but I can’t be sure yet. So far, they look promising. They seem like they really care about Halo and it’s story which I’m very happy about. Still, I can’t be too sure. Hopefully they won’t disappoint.
“Sundance says Reach stinks and 343 rules”
I don’t believe those were exact words at all.
