Sun Glare

Big team battle has just come out and it is really good however, i find that each of these forge maps has a massive flaw. The sun glare on specifically Deadlock and Recurve are beyond horrendous. It gives one of the teams a distinct advantage if the are lucky enough to get the sun to their back. It’s so blinding that you can hardly make out enemies when engaging in a fight. i think this is a real issue in overall performance of gameplay. Power weapons, power ups and map control are one thing but an environmental advantage over someone isn’t fair. I can’t stress this enough. I am a veteran halo player and I’ve been playing for roughly 9-10 years of halo so i know what to look for and i seriously think this is a major flaw in some of the maps. Such as orion too, blue had the sun behind it and if you were any bit lower than them you could hardly see the enemy, but they had no problem seeing the attacker. I know it’s starting to sound redundant but in a fight that’s an unfair advantage that has never existed in halo ( other than halo 3 flare equipment but that’s different ) Arena is supposed to be more competitive with there being equal ground, so why would some of the line of sights have a blinding glare that one would have to fight.

Yeah without equal grounds there is NOT an equal fight. End of story. Solutions? position the map so the sun is on the side or out of direct sight, or more conveniently, make it noon. But seeing as how they cant see this as a problem its hopeless to even suggest REAL problems (map flow, weapon spawn, player spawn)

Exactly it would be prudent to rotate the map or just adjust the sun to noon. There won’t always be equal grounds but on symmetrical maps with forced base spawns like on deadlock theres not even a way to push their base and receive that benefit of having the sun to the player’s back. I really hope this gets noticed and fixed but it’s doubtful.

Hopes for anything important being touched are in the gutters. I just need forge mode to ease the pain

Also, Ive seen the new forge maps, I see what youre saying about the glare, but ultimately I am HUGELY disappointed in their work. From what Ive pieced together they have a huge budget and dont know how to use it. The alternative is they have close to know budget because of the idiotic 60 fps BS. In any case, lots of potential but extremely poor execution.

I agree fully. They were supposedly the best of the best forgers and the headlong remake for instance looks lazy and poorly excited like you said. i think it could have been much more detailed and a little more like the original in this one it feels more cramped than ever like a mini poop version of headlong and kind of craps on the old one. Also basin the valhalla inspired map is terrible it looks like tons of time was taken on the bases and the rest was just thrown together. Kind of sad excuse for a map. and the other two have too many problems with sun glare to even be good enough to play on.

Agreed also the lens flare for every light source is ridiculous this is not jj Abrams star trek some one at 343 is a fan.

Here we go - complaints about the sun. Wear a dark visor…

Nothing gets past you, does it, Sherlock?

Crap like this is why Eden isn’t a night map anymore.

I have found that lighting in general for H5 is terrible. I love the game. But I cant get the brightness to where I want it for anything. Either things are too dark or they are too bright. When things are too bright some things have so much “Glow” that you can’t see past the glow and or Glare. So you turn down the brightness the glow goes away but then lots of areas are too dark and you still can’t see anything. I actually am surprised that there have not been complaints about this. and NO Its not my TV.

You’d think of all the advancements that have went into Spartan Armor, Polarized visors would have been one of them. I am sick to death of the glare on any map that the sun is present.

My hypothesis is that this was meant to hide graphical imperfections. The pretty, retina-searing skybox of Sanghelios prevents you from noticing the rocks that wouldn’t have looked out of place 10 years ago.

Sun is OP. 343 please nerf.

Some people.

dear retinas I miss you

Yeah I thought the sunglare was way to much. Aren’t we wearing helmets with visors? What they don’t have transition lenses in the future?

the sun hurts my eyes -.-*

Yeah the central warzone base on that snow map has nasty sun glare coming in the middle if you trying to kill attackers outsside

I remember forging a huge wall to blockout the sun before on a reach or halo 3 map. Im pretty sure it was reach but i hardly remember. Either way this is such a legitimate concern. Maybe they can do the same. I havent seen the maps yet though… still downloading the update 20 hours later…
