hey guys this is my idea
infection has always been a really fun mode in halo that offers a unique play-style and experience compared to other modes in a game but I think this would be a fun party mode to have preferable as its own game mode apart from infection.
it would work as so.
you have a team of Spartans and a team of grunts, on either a 5,1 or 4,1 ratio the Spartans would have reduced health for balancing purposes although not a large reduction and would have magnums.
the grunts would have slight health boost for balancing purposes, they would be armed with plasma grenades (these can not be thrown obviously) and can activate them as a single use ability. upon activation the grunt player gets a speed boost for the duration of the plasma grenades countdown.
upon death of a spartan they join the grunts etc. when a single spartan remains they gain a health boost and a shotgun to make it harder for the grunt team.
obviously this is subject to change but its a fun little idea that would be fun as a game-mode or a fun little event.

I could see this idea working as a unique early wave of firefight but that’s it. I dont see 343 implementing the ability to play as grunts in forge or custom games. Now you could easily make this game mode in any Halo game, one team armed with magnums and one with a plasma pistol but with unlimited plasma grenades. Both sides would be Spartans of course but you could still use your idea. Now with that being said this idea still only makes it into the custom games side of things and not an official multiplayer game mode.
I like the idea and it inspired me.
Lab Rat Run:
Most of the players spawn as Halo Scientists-white lab coats etc. They all have a magnum with only one clip. The recoil is high because they are just weak scientists. One or two players spawn a Grunts or Jackals and have infiltrated the lab, and the Scientists have to evacuate the lab in a waiting Pelican on the landing pad at the far far side of the installation. Each time a Scientist gets killed, that player spawns as a new low level Covenant. The scientists have to run, get to the Pelican, and survive! It could also be that the scientists have to go to the communications center, transmit a distress signal, then run to the landing pad and wait for the Pelican to arrive.
Fun times!

The game take place in a Human Laboratory under the control of the ONI
This lab is specialised in the research and experimentation with the flood
One of the security protocole have not been followed properly and installation is now dealing with a flood outbreak
The players (scientists) will have to survive arround the lab, activating power generators in order to open doors (gameplay similar to the Alien Custom games).
The player (a regular scientist) do not possess any shield and can only use weapons from the armory (pistols, assault rifles and grenade). The radar is disable
Every time a player get infected, he join the opposite team as a flood carrier form or a flood infection form
As the regular humans are not equiped with any shield, the infection forms are a dangerous threat even single
The goal of the scientists are to escape the flood lab and getting rescued by a pellican
Note: to increase the difficulty, most of the rooms are plunged in the dark, the humans can only see while shooting or with the few lights present in the room
