Suggestions for the upcoming Halo

Dear 343,

I know you must be constantly getting suggestions for upcoming Halo games and that you are all busy. However, I do have a suggestion that I would like you to consider for the next halo game. I really enjoyed firefight from Halo Reach and was disappointed when it didn’t make it into Halo 4, although I enjoyed Spartan Ops just as much. I also really enjoy forging in both Halo Reach and Halo 4, and I have built a variety of bases in both games. The only problem with forge is after I complete a base I have nobody to use it against.

My suggestion is to create an option where you can combine firefight and forge in the next Halo game. For example, a player could customize his/her own base (including weapons, vehicles, and other items) and then use the base to fend off an army of covenant. He/she could also build their own custom map to use in firefight if they wanted to do so. If this addition is not possible I would at least recommenced that the next Halo include the option to battle AI in Custom Game. Therefore, players could just build a base/map in forge and then save it as a custom map in order to battle computer generated enemies.

Another suggestion I have is to give players an unlimited budget and set no limit on the items they can use in forge. This would allow players to built more complex maps and bases without restricting their creativity. This should also be applied to the forge/firefight mode if it is added.

I would also like to see the Hornet from Halo 3 and the Falcon from Halo Reach return in the next Halo. I felt that is was unfair to the UNSC to have no flying vehicles to combat the banshee in Halo 4. Also, I personally thought it was fun to fly these vehicles around and would like to be able to use them in the next Halo. I would also appreciate if you would bring back Forge World from Reach because I felt that Halo 4′s forge maps were too compact.

Lastly, I suggest keeping loadouts, ordinances, and the ability to sprint from Halo 4.

Thank you for considering my suggestions and ideas for the upcoming halo.

Sincerely,
TARGETL0CKED

This right here is the only thing I’ve read so far that I have issues with.
It’s very hard for there to be a way to give forge an unlimited budget, we might see a slightly increased budget, but not an unlimited budget.

Maybe an unlimited budget would be difficult, but I think that giving players unlimited items to forge with would be beneficial because it would allow for much more complex maps and bases. I feel that working with a limited number of items can be challenging and that my forge creations would be much better if I was given more items to work with.

I’m just saying, there’s a budget for a reason. The objects have to be rendered in real-time on the fly, and going over the budget can affect that and cause some severe lag. Given the Xbox One’s processing power, I’m willing to bet that we’ll definitely see a budget increase, but nonetheless, there will always be a budget. Unlimited budget glitches don’t circumvent rendering problems.

Unlimited budget would mean the hardware and network/internet it’s connected too is able to cope with the budget size.

Have you ever heard of a game called Garry’s Mod? It’s a PC game/mod that was built using Valve’s Steam Engine, and using Half Life 2. In Single Player mod, it has an unlimited budget, but on my 6 year old computer back in the day, if I spawn in more than say 1000 entities at once, my game will lag like no other. On my current PC I can get away with a higher count, but that’s single player.

Now Let’s talk MP, which forge is a MP mode, so the unlimited budget will have to cope with internet. In Garry’s mod, there’s limits, adjustable, but limits to how much of a budget you can have, you can adjust it to better suit the network connection between your computer and someone else’s.

Tho Forge and Garry’s Mod are similar, they’re different in one sense, Forge is a map editor, so maps you create using an unlimited budget, can’t be used by everyone, because not everyone has epicly good internet, so a very small percent of players can actually play those maps.

Yes, unlimited Budget would be awesome, and it’d be beneficial to forgers, but you need to wonder, why did Bungie and 343i only increase the budget instead of make it unlimited? If they could do an unlimited budget, don’t you think they would of by now? It’s not a sign that the developers aren’t listening to us, the sure fact that they’ve been increasing the budget every now and again should be enough of a sign of them listening.

Also, like I pointed out “it’d be beneficial to forgers”, you still have other issues, like the fact that a lot of people still hate Forge maps because they’re mostly gray, and boring, not because the budget limits them. It’s because #1 you’re using an in-game map editor, and #2 you’re using the same colored pallet every time you make a map.

The only way to do an unlimited budget in Forge, is to remove Forge from the game completely, turn it into a true Map creator, and call it Forge.

Now, a Stand alone map editor kit would be able to have Unlimited Budget, because instead of it being a edited map file with a script telling the game where all of the stuff is, it’s an actual map file.

I now understand why there is a budget. However, I think it would be great if you had no limit on the number of items you could use. For example, only allowing forgers to use a certain number of each type of item restricts their creativity. Getting rid of the item limit will be beneficial to forgers who want to build bigger maps/bases.

The number of items available is also tied to the hardware/software department.

I’m sure it’ll increase on the X1, but you can’t expect a huge increase though.
