In my opinion, they’ve cheapened medals enough by awarding them for even the most mundane things - like headshot kills. Any more and they’ll just lose all meaning.
I don’t want any medal having to do with assassinations or anything like them. Why? Because then my teammates start chasing people down trying to assassinate them rather then shooting them and saving a teammates life.

This was a real problem with Reach that was hugely underlooked, the Assassination commendation as well as close quaters ones & medals encouraged people just to melee them.
I would like to see the “Beatdown” and “Headshot” medals gone. I think it’s unnecessary and not very fulfilling imo. I think medals should be earned skillfully like the multi-kills and sprees with specific weapons.
Although I’d love to see a spree for assassinations. :]
I think it would be nice to have weapon specific sprees go up to the Rampage level (20 consecutive).
Decapitation!
Shoot someone in the head with the shotty.
Medal Fixes:
I would also like to see them fix FF medals. It is too easy to get shotgun sprees, etc in FF. If they were the same as regular sprees I think it would be better (shotgun spree would be 10 kills instead of 5 for FF).
Also certain medals are too easy to get in MM. I’m mainly refering to the spawn spree medals. I’ve seen afk players get broseidon (15 team mate spawns) medals. You should at least have to participate to recieve medals.
The Yoink! medal should be removed from team games as it encourages kill stealing. If they do remove more medals (like the headshot and pummel) it would be nice if they were only removed from the in-game HUD.
In addition to the “First Strike” medal, I’d love to see a “Final Strike” (although it would only be for Team Slayer games with a kill goal). Also, shouldn’t this be in the Reach or Halo 4 forum?

Final Strike could work in Objective as it’d just be awarded to the last person to earn a kill in an objective game.
There are some medals that need fixed, specifically the Extermination medal. I don’t like how if there’s less than a team of 4 that getting the prerequesities still wont get an Exterm. I’ve gotten so many Overkills on teams of 3 that resulted in the team being dead and no Extermination. That’s my only real complaint. That should go in combination with wiping an enemy team of 4 WITHOUT an Overkill. But lower sized team games require an Overkill.
Also, I find it dumb that in 5v5 games I can’t get an Overkill that results in all the team being dead, which should award me the Extermination like it does in H3, but won’t because I didn’t do it to the ENTIRE team. This makes it even harder to get Exterms in anything bigger than 4v4 games. This needs fixed as well. I don’t care if I’m playing 6v6 games, if I get an Overkill and that 4th kill makes the entire team being on respawn, I should get an Exterm for it.
My addition would be:
-Garbage Spree: kill he same person 5 times in a row without dying
-Taking out the trash: kill the same person 10 times in a row without dying
-Waste management: kill the same person 15 times in a row without dying.

I just love how they added a medal for being a -Yoink–bag. “You are such a team player! Here is a medal for killing the guy your teammate was assassinating!”
dome inspecter would be pointless considering that most kills i see are almost all headshots, but i would like to see hitman as a medal. i think they should take out shotgun spree and sword spree though, i mean seriously, the least amount of kills anyone could ever get with a shotgun or a sword without dying is 5. the only spree medals there should be for cqc weapons is for 15 kills without dying. If theyre going to have medals for those they might as well add in needle spree, pummel spree, rejection spree, assault rifle spree, rocket spree, dmr spree, emp spree, body shot spree, firebird spree, pull spree, close call spree, frag grenade spree, killjoy spree, tbag spree, and death spree(medal for 5 deaths without any kills). I will laugh really hard if they actually make a medal for tbag spree.

The purpose of medals is to reward the player by accomplishing a feat that required some significant effort. Once there is a system that enables people to go for certain medals then it ruins the gameplay, such systems are achievements and commendations.
The commendation system was meant to display a players play style by providing them cR for certain actions however the categories of commendations are so generalized and are such inflated and unrealistic milestones that it means absolutely nothing and is not at all a representation of a player’s play style as much as it shows the amount of grinding that player went through to earn them.
Medals are fine, First Strike and “Final Blow”(even though it doesn’t exist) are clear indicators of the playstyle or the events of a given match. However, these medals should be treated as second tier thus something must be done in Halo 4 to differentiate these types of medals from the first tier ones like killtacular and extermination.

If they end up doing all that, why not add in betrayal spree (5), team player (10) and friendly fire (15).

I don’t think this is really necessary. Most ppl (>90%) already realize this. Especially since they distinguish between types of medals on bnet. They also distinguish between run of the mill and legendary medals. However some are more valuble / rare than others. (showstopper, protector > assasin , yoink)

More like: “Your teammate is wasting time. Help speed up the process so they can get back to helping you out.”

I will yoink a kill every opportunity I get, and continue to do so. Players should go for quick kills rather than stylish animations. Too many times do players fail to help a teammate because they would rather spend 2 seconds watching an animation than shooting the other team. Yes, 2 seconds impacts intense moments of action
