Suggestions for Armor

Sierra-421 here. I have a few suggestions for Armor permutations in Halo Infinite:

First: Each piece should be allowed to be colored independently of each other, even the visor. This would involve a primary color, secondary color, and two accent colors. Skins should also make a return in Infinite.

Second: There should be more color swatches available than in Halo 5, as well as a color picker for colors outside those swatches.

Third: All Halo 3, Reach, 4, and 5 armor sets (and alt. skins, by extension) should make a return (3 and Reach can be skipped if there are any copyright issues) for Infinite, alongside new sets and skins.

Lastly: Keep the REQ model, but make all of them available through normal unlock means instead of making some of them event exclusive, to make things fair. And make the Mark VI kit available by default alongside the Recruit kit.

That is a ton of armor pieces and components. Like a TON. One thing about 5 I didn’t love was how many different armor pieces there were. I’m all for variety and can appreciate it but sometimes the only thing that separated two armor sets was a “variant” that was hardly noticeable. If you include all those armor sets, you have a ton of very similar armor sets.

Sometimes less is more in my opinion. Having meaningful, different, and unique armor sets with their own characteristics could go a long way instead of a content flood in my opinion. I’m not saying don’t bring back some classics and fan favorites or create some new sets, but I don’t quite see the benefit to having over 300 sets of armor.

  1. That would be really cool to be able to colour each individual piece separately.

  2. Definitely need more colours, H5 is so limited compared to many other games. Why can’t we get a nice big colour wheel with hundreds of options.

  3. I wouldn’t want ALL of them to return, just the good ones. There was a lot of junk. I don’t know why there’d be any copyright issues, Microsoft owns everything I thought.

  4. I do not want loot boxes back. If they do come back I hope at least we’d also be able to unlock things directly.

They own the majority. The only armour set that can never return is Hayabusa. Unless 343i get Team Ninja’s permission to use it.

They could make a new Ninja Armor set & have it like a Predecessor of Hayabusa, just a thought

Recon or some good ODST armor.

Ahhh I see, I didn’t know that was tied to Team Ninja.

If playable Elites return, I want old and new Arbiter armor.

Well, we have Shinobi. That could be counted as a successor to the Hayabusa armour.

Yeah, it was a deal between Bungie and Team Ninja back in the early 2000’s. Team Ninja wanted to have the Master Chief in Dead or Alive 4 but Bungie said they couldn’t use him specifically and so Nicole, aka Spartan-458, was created and used for the game instead. In return, Bungie got to use the design for Ryu Hayabusa’s armour (with the futuristic Halo touch added, obviously).

I was actually thinking more along the lines of Bungie interference…

I like the direction 343 has taken the armour customization; including pieces from the entirety of the franchise. One request I have is an improved UI. Instead of having for example Mako Darkwater, and Mako Chthonic appear as two different armour sets, they should appear as one with the option to select your preferred skin. This would drastically reduce the number of armour sets and make the dashboard easier to navigate.

Edit:

Can we please get all the classic emblems back, and have them appear on the Spartans armour again?

I don’t think Bungie has any rights to anything Halo game related

Ah. Good to know.

Less is more. I would vastly prefer having fewer armor sets, relatively speaking, backed up by a large amount of Reach style attachments, than having the large number of armor sets where the quality clearly dips in places.

I also don’t think it is a realistic idea to have absolutely everything in the game in the first place.

Bring back Seeker, thankyougoodnight.

EDIT: Oh, and make it a Legendary reward or the default.

some kind of new Samurai / hayabusa nxt gen.

I would be perfectly happy with a Reach-style armor customization system. Halo 5’s was far too overstuffed with terrible options, less is often times more.

So we have seen armor permutations based on various mythologies (Norse, Greek, Roman, etc); if you could create a new armor, what would you call it or what would base it on?
For example, the Didact’s helmet from H4 had a striking resemblance to the Devtac Ronin Helmet. I wouldn’t mind seeing one called Ronin to go along with the other Japanese themed armors. If you wanted to make it earned as an achievement, it could go to the Spartan winning x amount of solo matches or placing #1 in group matches x amount of times .
In addition, I know there were some armors from H4&H5 that people did not like and hope don’t make a comeback, but the armors from the Halo Online game that never made it out of beta caught my attention. I would like to see them brought into the next game.
Finally, maybe create some new armor based on other cultural or historical mythologies.

I’m currently watching the movie “Gladiator” with Russell Crowe. The spiked helmet he wears in the arena would be a nice touch. Could call it Gladiator: Decimus.
