I never use the challenge swaps. As a player that isn’t great the reason I would be using the challenge swaps would be to get rid of a challenge outside of my skill range. But because I have a very high probability of the challenge I’m going to get being one that is again too tough for me to complete I feel like they are pretty useless for me.
I think if 343 want us to more liberally use (and BUY?) challenge swaps they should swap them out for grey-tier challenges. That way it isn’t an instant win button but it’s a swap that you know you can get pretty quickly. I would say even the dark blue tier is one that would make me hesitate on using a challenge swap.
So, make the challenge swaps swap in a grey-tiered challenge you can easily do. It would make me much more likely to use them up and buy them.
Something else I just thought about is that this could possibly have a knock-on effect to get people to more liberally use the XP boosts as well? Currently I don’t ever use the XP boosts because there isn’t really a guarantee I would get a good return. The best and only time I’m saving these XP boosts for is the first day of new weeklies. Because you can maximize a lot of XP in an hour. However, after you start getting the more ridiculous challenges it becomes a crapshoot if you are going to get enough XP to be worth the double spend.
However, if you can swap in grey-tier challenges you could see scenarios where a person would swap in a few grey-tier challenges for really hard bright blue challenges and then use a double XP to maximize payout. At least I know I would probably do that.
In that scenario you are then getting people spending swaps and double XP boosts more liberally.
