I’m here to propose an idea that I don’t see talked about a lot in the Halo community.
Actually, I don’t see it talked about at all. I’ve never seen it mentioned in any YT or Reddit discussion about Halo.
Multiplayer bots.
Now, hear me out. What I’m about to say might make you stop reading or prompt you to wrote some nice hateful comment on this post.
One of the few things I really love about the Call of Duty games is the ability to play offline multiplayer with bots.
It started many years ago when I wanted to warm up my shot before a sweaty MP session, but as I grew to dislike the way CoD is played online,
I started playing more Offline matches against Veteran bots than actual Online matches. Nowadays I either play a private match with friends or just
play against bots. It’s a nice way to satisfy the multiplayer urge, while not having to deal with getting cheesed and t-bagged into oblivion.
I set it to infinite time FFA on Shipment or Nuketown, put a few Veteran bots on the field and shut my mind of for an hour or however long I want / have.
On the other hand I love, LOVE, playing Halo MP. I’m one of those guys that only plays Halo 5 Arena. Slayer or FFA. I love that. It’s my jam.
But as you might know if you just blindly go into Ranked without warming up your shot after a few days of not playing, it’s not gonna go well.
Or you just don’t feel like sweating your balls off against a bunch of Onyx gods, but you still wanna work on your Magnum shot.
So what are your options? Well, either go into Social and try to warm up your shot while everyone else is trying to goof around or try and find an
Octagon partner. You could also go into Warzone, but the maps are so big that you don’t get a lot of 1v1 chances before someone snipes you from across the map.
So Octagon it is.
However, that’s a gamble every time. Some people will rage quit if you 5 them 10-15 times in a row. Some people will leave
if they 5 you 10-15 times in a row. Some times the only guy that wants to Octagon is from Japan or New Zeland and at that ping you can safely
grab a few slices of pizza while letting your significant other play, for what it’s worth.
So what am I saying here?
It would be nice if the next Halo game had an option to play private matches against bots. 7 would be a nice number.
But if that’s too much I’d be happy with having the option to put ONE bot on Octagon and practice my shot / warm up that way.
Give it a difficulty range or “Easy” to “Royal2” and let me go at it for as long as I want.
I’m sure the really smart engineers as 343, and I know there’s a bunch of those around (no sarcasm), can use fancy math to mimic real
Halo players as AI. Or as close as it gets. I think that would be awesome.
H5 showed no love towards offline players, so this would be good. Not everyone has XBL Gold so this would serve a good purpose. Plus that also would mean some creative customs
I’m pretty sure that’s called FireFight. Halo Reach you could actually do Teamed Vs. Battle against AI. Not so much as the covenant but perhaps a UNSC and Covenant Fire Fights could be a thing to make that happen.
I would like this for when the online population dies off over the years, especially for BTB. I remember in 2013 I had to wait sometimes for 15 minutes to find a BTB game in Halo 3. If they add bots, no more waiting, just start a custom game of BTB and add some bots and have fun!
I would also like to see bots for firefight so you will have some help fighting off the covenant.
Or even if it is just you and a few friends but you want more players in your game, adding bots could help fill the lobby.
I love the idea, I don’t have gold and all I can do is firefight with the MCC, but with firefight I cant play a lot of game modes I can on MP, so I really hope they add it on future halo games.
I’ve always wanted this dude. Like you could set them routes to take for customs. You could determine their path by moving in it, then it could save it and you could apply it to the bot/ai.

yeah that would be aweeesome, mostly for ppl who dont have gold…
Every game that has an online component should absolutely have bots. Population dies off - and games become useless. Bots could not only help you train / warm-up but also keep the MP going for those who play well after launch.

Even with XBL gold, we absolutely need to be able to play without an Internet connection. Maybe you are traveling an the connection is garbage or non-existent. Maybe the Internet in your house or area just goes out for some reason or all the bandwidth is getting eaten up elsewhere. And of course, even if everything is perfect, I think we all have experience moments where servers malfunction or go down temporary (or permanently).
Halo Infinite now has bots (but they’re unfinished). All that’s left are the seven games (including Halo 2 Anniversary and Halo 3 ODST Firefight and Halo Reach Firefight) in the Master Chief Collection. I hope the MCC team can devise a method to make bots with the Blam Engine.
