I love spartan ops in halo 4 but I’ve been having a bad experience with it this week. Why? Because this week was episode 3. Chapter 4 Shootout in Valhalla is my favorite chapter in this episode. Typically at the end of the game people turn on each other and destroy each others Mantis’. Great, lots of fun, haha. This week I experienced something new however… People who prevent you from getting into a Mantis altogether. They blow it up repeatedly during the animation of you boarding the vehicle! They do it so they can rack up all the kills, whatever. Annoying, but I don’t care about that. But by the end of the this week I experienced the most frustrating thing I think has ever happened to me in all my years of playing halo. Two players on my “team” on this chapter just decided they were going to prevent me and my other teammate from getting into a Mantis. Okay… but they had no desire to even finish the game. The result was an hour long event. That consisted of the two of us trying and failing to get in a Mantis and finish the game. How could this be fixed?
Friendly fire is already turned off in Spartan Ops so turn off the setting that allows teammates to damage each others vehicles. Oh yeah, and the fact that they can splatter you too because that’s also getting annoying.
I would also love to see some more creative challenges in Spartan Ops
-find a RvB easter egg
-board “x” number of vehicles
-assassinate “x” number of “x” type of bad guys
-destroy “x” number of vehicles
-get “x” kills with a certain weapon
I just love this new game type and want it to be successful.
Chime in with your suggestions!
Increase availability. Stop restricting it to online and I Gold accounts.
I love the RvB easter eggs, dem things, always makes me laugh seeing them in some crazy random place like on Vulcan.
And I agree with what you have listed as well, I think it could be interesting to start treating Spartan Ops more like Firefight 3.0. Increase the creativity and challenge for the most part, while letting Players have freedom to roam around and play their own way as well.
It would not hurt to add in some more important Boss enemies, create some new enemy types or such just for those levels, and let the Development team run wild with their imagination, but this may cause the Budget to need to be increased on the maps and AI.
I think right now the Developers are trying to get their footing and see what works and what does not for players in general. Its a new set up, but they should treat it more like how Firefight was treated, where everything was more free choice, I like the dialogue as well from characters but some of it is pretty useless imo.
They also should add Character Development for Crimson Team, and a little more Majestic, make both teams feel more realistic and really pull you into playing a member of Crimson Team. Now this does not mean we need full scale CGI Rendered cutscenes with our Spartans in them, but it would be nice to have some In-Game Cutscenes where all 4 Squad members are present honestly, this would really pull you into the game, perhaps adding Voice Actors could help as well.
As far as offline Spartan Ops capability and all that, that most likely will not happen, the content needs to be streamed and downloaded, I dont see how people still do not understand that. In this day in age, most people do in fact have the internet and the capability to run Xbox-Live. I dont think any one is willing to pay to give Offline support to a game that is meant to be played Online.

Offline, maybe, not gold? No. I spend $60 a year for a reason, I think I should get some features that people who don’t pay don’t necessarily deserve.

Why are you even whining about that? You clearly have Xbox Live… get out of here with that lol, your Service Record details it clearly.

THIS
I would absolutely love to see challenges that were actually challenges! The chellenges stated in the op were pretty much along the lines of what I was thinking, not just killing ememies that you would kill anyway.
I wish we could hijack banshees
Overall I think spartan ops is great, yeah it has its issues but its pretty innovative and could be the start of something a lot bigger.

You think that’s bad? I had one so-called teammate glitch himself inside the first tower and spawn the rest of us in there. There was no way out, so the only solution was to quit.

Lmao, I had similar experience on The Gate, someone kept glitching his way out of the main part of the map and forcing us to spawn on the cliff with no way off of it, so we instead just had to dodge enemy fire while trying to avoid the invisible barrier lol, kept spawning over and over in front of the Phantoms.
Spartan Op’s could be huge with a few improvements, adding more Character to Crimson is something I think would help keep people invested much more.
-increase the weapon despawn timer. Weapons disappear too quickly
-decrease the shield recharge wait time. Hell this change should be made global. It makes gameplay fast-paced improperly
-fix respawning. Too often I respawn far from the fight or right in the middle of it. I’d like to be able to choose to where to respawn (like in Section 8)
-XP payout should not merely be based on how quickly you complete the mission but how well you do
-less kill all enemies objectives, which makes it very repetitive. It should be possible to skip some enemies like in campaign (and get punished for it later)
-add scoring
-add theater
-add skulls

Or there’s a possibility he’s using a bunch of Xbox Live trial codes, like I’ve been doing.

3 months Gold as a gift from my brother, two weeks trial before that. After that I’m done. Besides, even if I had an annual subscription, I actually want to keep the content I pay for.

Except that Season 1 was included in the price of the game and other seasons will cost extra. Those extra features you get are called Matchmaking, online play, a fileshare, access to Waypoint on 360 and a huge amount of other stuff. Don’t be so self-entitled.
I like Spartan Ops but sometimes the lag is incredible. I pull trigger and a couple of seconds later my gun fires. Same thing goes with any button I press. This doesn’t even happen in MM.
