Suggested addition for gunner of a vehicle.

Earlier today, I was playing an enticing game of Reach, specifically BTB. It was the remake of “The Spire” that contained a Gauss Hog, and I was the gunner.

A problem I experienced today, and many times in the past, was that the person who volunteered to drive me wasn’t in the same chat channel as myself. I couldn’t say, “Hey! He’s over there!” or any sign for him to stop taking such a shaky path devoid of enemies.

So, my suggestion is that the gunner be given the ability to place waypoints similar to those placed by holograms to signify where the gunner thinks best to go, that the driver only would see. This also could be used to “control” warthogs driven by AIs in campaign to an extend, with a little alteration.

Thoughts?

Yeah! This would be great. I hate it when I’m trying to kill someone and the driver decides to drive the other way.

Good idea, OP. Another solution could also be to give the vehicle gunner a “spotting ability” sort of like the one from Battlefield 3. It would certainly make things easier for vehicle gunner-driver synthesis.

Exactly. It is easier to deal with in the Gauss, but in the regular it makes it impossible to compensate for at times. I’m for anything that will make vehicle combat more fluid between the occupants.

This actually sounds like a really good idea, and it would work especially well for helicopters.

Hey that isn’t a bad idea OP! That would be pretty useful!

That would be amazing, especially for campaign. Easy to do to, just map it to the AA button as I don’t think you can use AA’s as a gunner.

Jumps on 'hog gun and whips out HLS

It’s a good idea.

Great idea. That would actually make me use the gunner seat more. Most random people don’t seem to know where to actually drive.

It would also be very useful in campaign, I believe.

Unlike most of the lame ideas I see here, that sounds GREAT. It’d even like to use it to show people who are in my chat channel where I’m talking about since often times they miss my targets on description alone.

Glad to see positive feedback so far. It could possibly be used vice versa, to direct targets by the driver. Yet again, the AA button isn’t used while driving.

Usually, the ideas in this forum are horrendous. This, however, is actually pretty valuable. I hate being the gunner of an inexperienced driver. I could be able to place waypoints, and if the driver is skilled, he could chose to ignore them. A new player, though, may see this as an opportunity to provide valuable assistance for the team. I think this is a great idea. I don’t think we’ll see it in H4, but it is a pretty interesting concept.

Sounds like a good Idea.

Great idea, this troubling when i’m both the gunner and pilot/driver.

I don’t anticipate getting it into Halo 4, but I can at least rally to get in Halo 5. A feature like this could be useful, especially since the next one will be on the new xbox (most likely) and more inexperienced players will flock in.
