hey guys i have been playing halo for a total of about 4 months on and off but i cant seem to do good in anything no matter how hard i try plus i dont have a mic and well no friends to help any advise to get better
I sometimes watch random Youtube videos on Halo 5 tips. There are some excellent pointers in those.
Also, I personally feel like grenade placement can make a huge difference. (have enemies run into your grenades)
Honestly? Just practice. I know that I sound really dumb saying that, but it’s true. However, I will tell you, that practicing alone will help you, but not as much as practicing and setting goals. BBKDRAGOON is a youtuber who makes videos on Halo and such, and would probably help you. I’ll link you one video in particular that I feel is the most helpful to one trying to get better. It’s up to you at that point whether or not you care enough to continue.
Good luck!> 2535413344687249;1:

If you don’t feel you’re able to practice while in matchmaking, switch over to the campaign -on normal to heroic difficulty - and practice getting head shots with the precision weapons. Knowing how all the weapons work and when to use them (close/mid/long range) will help you a lot.
I’ll play with ya man! Just depends when you’re on. During the day, 2pm-7pm CST, I have no mic either… Any time after that, I have a mic. PM me if you ever want to play. I can be a slayer or support. Team shooting for an assist doesn’t bother me.
thanks guys but wanna know something do you think its impossible for a guy like me at this level to some day compete in like hcs and stuff yeah i know thats like way out there but is it possible
Play BTB. there’s more opportunity to experiment.
Get comfortable with using the hover, dash and ground pound. The more often you use it, the better you get subconciously with using your thumbsticks (and, better aiming)
Don’t move your right thumbstick in a 1v1, softly aim on them and strafe.

It’s not impossible. It depends on your age, natural ability, and how much time you want to put into it. Looks like you haven’t really played a lot of H5 (compared to most on here), so you will get better the more you play, especially if you are young. Once you get 30+ your reflexes get slower. (My 14 year old son can destroy me in Halo). We all have a talent ceiling, but of course we can’t tell you what yours is. Just keep playing and maybe watch the pro’s on youtube or something and mimic them.

For better or worse, you can’t play this game “on and off”. You have to play on a regular basis. At least weekly. I normally play every weekend and do ok. The short version is, You have to learn the maps no matter what gametype you play. you also have to focus on accuracy over evasion until you feel like you can hit targets while moving with ease. Also no matter what gametype you play follow your teammates work with them(although keep a little distance between you and them when playing swat). I play almost every major shooter out there. For whatever reason this game requires more concentration than any other game I play. hope this helps.
My advice: play SWAT. It’ll really help your aim and reflexes and get you used to constantly aiming for the head. It can be frustrating at times if you get a bad team but it’ll help you in the long run.
I also see that you have hardly played Warzone. I would start there. that can give you lots of practice. For the first few games you might want to hangout at just one base if possible and take on enemies as the come to the base and they will.
My tips that have personally helped my game.
- Watching the pros on twitch. These guys have all sorts of tricks that they use so just watching them can give you ideas on how to move around maps, how they use weapons if different situations.
- Watch some youtube vids. I watched a bunch of video showing some of the trick jumps and different paths around maps.
- Identify your weaknesses. For example I noticed I had a tendency to shot a players shield down then try to rush him to finish him off. While this worked sometimes it usually ended badly (because i’m usually weakened too). So I started taking a more conserved approach by waiting for shield to recharge or just running away.
- Learn the maps. Find the positions that give you advantage i.e. high spots. Sneaky ways to flank players
- Use crouch around corners, when recharging your shields or just trying to avoid a attacking player (sometimes you can get the drop on them and reverse the situation).
- Learn to use the right weapon for the right situation. Don’t try shoot someone with the AR when they are far away.
- Try to time your shots and keep calm. Even when under heavy fire try to keep clam and land those shots.
- Use corners, elbows and poles to your advantage. By side stepping in and out from behind them you can reduce the amount damage you take dramatically. This also helps confuse the attacking player. Avoid being caught in open spaces.
- Take your time. Don’t sprint everywhere. It takes a half second or so to come out of sprint which can be the difference between life and death.
- Try stick close to team mates. Not only can they back you up or vice versa you can also come mop up the damaged players if they die.
adjust your controller settings, i was playing really bad but then i turned my look acceleration to 1 and turned off my inner and outer deadzones and its a completely different game

Good post!!
The only thing that I would emphasize is team work team work team work.
I know how you feel man, I think i’ve only just started getting as good as I was in the old days. Imo h5 is much less about aim and strafing but more about teamwork and map control. I also don’t use my mic because there is usually a ton of other stuff going on in my house.
Try and focus on where your team mates are on the map, who’s fighting who and really concentrate on where the danger is. For example, if you have 3 team mates, two of them are wondering around doing whatever, but the third has a yellow tag and half shields, go to him. You will either be able to save his life or pick up his one shots after he dies and that is what makes a good team player.
I’ve had to completely change my play style for this game, less lonewolfing and more watching your team mates backs is the answer!

Thats a very good tip, I had not known about the colors of the teammate tags. I thought it was just to differentiate between them from a distance.
You can try playing the campaign; there are plenty of enemies to help you with your aim.
Alot of good players recommend spending time going into a practice map such as octagon or any small map with no cover with someone else as good or better than you and just consantly try and kill each other with nothing but pistols/br whatever.
Obviously you need people to do this with and the map (im currently working on a version of my own in forge) but have a look on the forge section im sure it will be around somewhere.
